This instructional design position will assist faculty with the design, development, and implementation of distributed learning delivery methods on the USC-Columbia campus and for the USC Regional system. This position supports faculty in the creation and/or use of best practices for distributed learning courses, especially fully online and blended courses, as well as instructional multimedia and Web course management systems.Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in education or related field and two years’ experience in curriculum development or management, or bachelor’s degree and four years curriculum development or management experience, or equivalent.Preferred Qualifications:

A minimum of two years of experience in course development for distributed learning in higher education. Training or experience in learning experience design (LXD), instructional design, and/or online teaching in a higher education setting. Familiarity with emerging learning technologies. Familiarity with both Apple and PC-based computers and software. Experience with current and emerging instructional technologies and pedagogies and with developing Web-based multimedia instructional components. Experience with graphic design and/or multimedia production.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge of current trends in distributed learning, learning experience design, and instructional design. Excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, and the ability to work across disciplines with diverse clientele. Ability to work with instructional design colleagues to coordinate projects and share information. Attentiveness to details and ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks and frequent interruptions. Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to interact positively with university faculty, staff, and students.Advanced working knowledge of the Blackboard learning management system and of applications used to create interactive instructional materials, such as Adobe Creative Suite tools, Camtasia Studio, Articulate, Captivate, and similar software.Knowledge of quality assessment rubrics such as Quality Matters or Sloan-C. Excellent communication, teamwork, time-management, and lifelong learning skills.Job Duty:

Design and develop technology-enabled course templates, learning experiences, assignments, activities, and assessments to achieve and demonstrate mastery of course learning outcomes. Create and edit original media and convert course materials into appropriate and accessible digital formats.
