The Marketing/Public Relations Professional’s

main responsibility in the Center for Food Safety is promoting accomplishments of researchers and leading public relations with private and public sector stakeholders. This position leads CFS’ efforts to promote research discoveries, establishes and maintain media relations, and contributes to coordinate CFS’ engagement with diverse audiences. This position works closely with the Center’s director to support strategic initiatives.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:Experience in public relations with diverse audiences and writing feature and news stories for different media outlets and social mediaAbility to multi-taskAbility to communicate clearly and professionallyPossess strong organizational skillsKnowledge about researching, writing strategies and editing of diverse articlesFamiliar with web content and website design and architectureExperience drafting science stories intended for social media and newsletter distribution

UGA Background Check website .Duties/Responsibilities:Oversees and independently manages operation of public relation functions of the UGA Center for Food Safety, which includes serving as assistant to the Center Director to support him with daily operational tasks and event organization with Center’s stakeholders.Works closely with Center Director to direct strategies for outreach activities with food industry representatives and government officials and scientists.Identifies opportunities for increasing the number of companies affiliated with CFS.

25Duties/Responsibilities:Participate in the research, writing, and publishing of feature stories about our Center and our faculty for news releases and for posting in other media.Collaborates directly with faculty to identify discoveries and scientific breakthroughs to develop stories for the traditional and social media outlets.Proactively investigate emerging food safety issues for showcasing the work taking place at CFS.
