The Program Director & Content Strategist is responsible for the conception and selection of the station’s content, develops and executes daily 24/7 radio station programming, selects and schedules network and syndicated programs, and works with independent producers to create and edit local programs. This individual plans and enacts content strategies across multiple platforms, including on-air newscasts and programs, website, stream service, and social media platforms. They also direct and oversee WUGA promotions through marketing and advertising campaigns and brand awareness strategies. The Program Director & Content Strategist is an on-air personality, representing the station at public and civic events, and is a highly visible and responsible position within WUGA. This employee works closely with other senior staff, supervises the Senior Content Strategist, and has performance oversight of and works with on-air staff to maintain public radio standards and best practices. Occasional nights and weekends involved.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:High level of communication, management, and leadership skills.Extensive radio station audience development and operational knowledge based on public radio industry standards and best practices.Demonstrates skills and knowledge relevant to website design, content management and social media scheduling and strategies.Willingness to lead, inspire, offer opinions and direction.Understanding of a public radio station’s role in its market service area.Ability to work in high pressure, deadline-driven broadcast environment with changing priorities.Knowledge of Radio broadcast software, Adobe Applications, MS Office Suite, and be receptive to learning new software applications.Ability to network and collaborate with colleagues and work in a team setting.Ability to interact with and assist listeners in a tactful and responsible manner.

20Duties/Responsibilities:Directs and supervises the Senior Content Producer, part-time radio announcers, and student interns to create and deliver WUGA content that engages audiences and generates new users.
