JOB SUMMARY:

Covenant seeks a full-time Program and Communications Director to organize and promote our congregation’s range of faith formation, community mission, and fellowship programs. You will coordinate church activities, supporting volunteer leaders in Christian education for all ages (children to adults), fellowship and mission activities, and congregational administration. The right candidate will combine expertise in strategic communication, program direction, and organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategically develop all public church communications as needed by staff and committees, including but not limited to: worship materials, newsletters, social media, targeted promotion.

Promote and encourage involvement in activities, events, volunteer opportunities, and contribution needs through appropriate messaging to all relevant constituents: adults, youth, children, volunteers, elders/committees, and the congregation.

Recruit, train, schedule, and support CE teachers and leaders. Nurture connections between teachers and leaders for mutual support and with an eye toward finding new opportunities for education and service.

Direct and superintend children’s and youth activities, including but not limited to Covenant Kids, Vacation Bible School, Youth Group, Youth Mission Trip, etc.

Research and recommend Christian Education curriculum and programming for all ages, in collaboration with pastor, teachers, and other group leaders.

Provide administrative support for Session, committees, officers, volunteers, and staff.

Coordinate special presentations, programs, and activities of Christian Education such as Bible presentations, Christmas programs, teacher commissioning and recognition, and other events.

Administer the church office, including but not limited to: daily mail and phone calls; church calendar and room reservations; membership database; pledge and contribution records; day to day technology and equipment needs.

Monitor facility and property for maintenance or repair needs and make appropriate arrangements as directed by Property Committee.

Participate in Sunday morning worship and congregational activities (at least 3 Sundays per month)

QUALIFICATIONS:

A person of solid Christian faith and familiarity with the Reformed tradition.

Successful experience running, participating in, or volunteering in children’s or youth educational programs.

Successful experience creating dynamic and purposeful public communications.

Demonstrated ability to develop supportive relationships with young children, youth, and adults.

Effective communication and language arts skills with an eye for publication design and layout. Strong grammar, punctuation, and proofreading skills.

Ability to work in a team environment, present a professional image, and to help facilitate communication within the church and with the greater community.

Ability to organize tasks efficiently, solve problems independently, ensure accuracy and timeliness with attention to detail, and be self-directed.

Strong computer software skills. Willingness and ability to learn new technology as needed.

Ability to be discreet in handling confidential or personal information, both pastoral and financial.

Ability to continue learning and adapt to change.

We offer a family-friendly work environment, paid holidays and vacation, and an inclusive atmosphere. This is a full-time position, 40 hours/week including some evening and weekend hours.

$46,000.00 - $51,000.00 per year
