We provide Christ-centered, discipleship-oriented pathways and programs that restore dignity and wholeness to our guests and residents. UGMTC’s Community Relations Department is dedicated to providing clear and consistent messaging and branding for all public communications of the Mission. This includes social media, website, emails, press releases, and all print materials. The Community Relations Department works under the supervision of the CEO and in close collaboration with UGMTC’s Development and Volunteer Departments.Our Mission is changing lives!

See more about us at ugmtc.org.POSITION SUMMARYUnder direct supervision, Marketing Specialist – Events & Media assists the Community Relations Department in building the UGMTC brand through print and digital properties by:Building collaborative relationships with media personnel in alignment with UGMTC’s mission, vision, values, and goals.Planning, organizing, and coordinating all UGMTC sponsored events including public education programs, fundraising events, client enrichment, and community events.Overseeing strategy and implementation of all digital media for UGMTC, including organization platforms and digital media created for the Mission by external vendors.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Media/MarketingWorks closely with the Marketing Communications Team to disseminate branded content across channels, including website, social media, emails, etc.Oversees marketing project requests and manages project completion.Oversees the design, production, and distribution of all UGMTC SWAG.Works in partnership with the Marketing Communications Team on all social media content and manages social platforms and Marketing and Communications calendar.Works in partnership with the Marketing and Communications team on all marketing collateral.Works with the Marketing and Communications team to manage all public UGMTC profiles and listings (social, Google, GiveMN, ECFA, etc.).Works in partnership with the Marketing and Communications team to manage UGMTC visual brand across all channels.Coordinates photo and video needs with the Marketing and Communications team.Performs project management to ensure department tasks and objectives are completed accurately and on schedule and to help maintain the integrity of our digital asset system.Supports administrative functions of the department by tracking the project’s status both internally and with outside vendors.EventsSpeaks to the media on behalf of UGMTC regarding events.Plans, organizes, and coordinates all aspects of events, including budget, venue, decor, speakers, entertainment, food, etc.Serves as liaison with vendors on event-related matters, including requesting proposals and bids.Develops detailed post-event evaluations, including budget, actual expenses, attendance, and revenue to create and maintain detailed operating procedures for all events.Works closely with the Volunteer Coordinator to facilitate meaningful volunteer experiences at events.Oversees on-site preparation, management, and clean-up of events.Project manages and approves all print, digital, and verbal communications related to events.GeneralAt the direction of the Community Relations Director, carries out assigned work in alignment with UGMTC’s mission, vision, and policies.Maintains cooperative relationships and communication within the Community Relations Team, other departments, and external constituents to maintain an environment conducive to idea exchange and support for the achievement of the department’s objectives.At any time, with or without notice, performs other duties and activities as assigned.MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or Public Relations.Three years of business development, sales or fundraising, and event planning experience.Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (primarily InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).Experience in Meltwater or similar media-tracking software preferred.Experience with Qgiv, WordPress, Salesforce, Pardot preferred.Experience in social media, SEO, and digital marketing preferred.Non-profit experience preferred.Experience or desire to work with underserved communities and people experiencing homelessness or poverty.Must be able to work flexible shifts.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:Demonstrates ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively on a team with a wide range of constituencies in a culturally diverse community.Can handle confidential information with high integrity and demonstrates exceptional judgment and professional boundaries.Ability to build and maintain a direct relationship with media contacts and translate the needs of UGMTC to gain support.Demonstrates ability to coordinate complex work assignments; strong detail-orientation, adaptability, follow-through, high-level of initiative, and ability to work with minimal supervision.Strong organization, prioritization, planning, and project management skills.Ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative information to identify trends, issues, and opportunities.Proficient in the use of Windows-based operating environment, Microsoft Office Software, and other business-related software and applications.Must have a valid MN Driver's License and a clean driving record.Able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:Work is performed in a typical interior/office within an emergency shelter/transitional housing environment with occasional outside work required.While performing the duties of this job, the employee may, on occasion, need to implement de-escalation techniques.Must be able to lift 10-15 lbs.Work requires pushing, pulling, reaching, crouching, stooping, walking, twisting, carrying, and other physical activities.Union Gospel Mission Twin Cities is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit Christian Ministry.
