The Club was established in August 1921 and has become one of the finest golf courses in New York State, offering an excellent social programming schedule, kid’s camp, swim/tennis/golf teams, and sport camps.What’s new?Transit Valley has completed a multi-phase renovation project in April 2021. Phase I included a new kitchen, pizza bump-out with a pizza oven, new lobby restrooms, and a complete renovation of the Women’s Locker room. Phase II included a new indoor/outdoor 25 seat bar, two golf simulators with a lounge, patio, and fire pit, and renovated Men’s Locker with the addition of a bar and card room.Amenities:Transit Valley’s clubhouse offers multiple picturesque dining options with fantastic panoramic views of the golf course and features meeting and banquet facilities. Additional amenities include a recreational zone with tennis courts, four pickleball courts, basketball and in-line hockey, a junior-size Olympic pool, kids’ club, and men’s and women’s locker rooms. The high-ranked golf practice facility includes twenty hitting stations and five target areas along with a newly constructed short game practice area.The Club has a very active golf membership of 340 and 475 total members, with approximately 26,000 rounds of golf per year through member and guest play, along with 12 outside charity/corporate events.Position Description:The Membership and Communications Director is a key leadership role responsible for the development and execution of strategies to enhance membership growth and retention. This position oversees all aspects of internal and external communications, ensuring consistent and effective messaging that aligns with the club's mission and values. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and creative individual with strong interpersonal skills and a passion for delivering exceptional member experiences.Key Responsibilities:Membership Development and Retention:Develop and implement comprehensive membership recruitment and retention strategies.Conduct tours and presentations for prospective members, highlighting the benefits and amenities of club membership.Conduct new member orientations for newly signed members.Foster relationships with current members to understand their needs and enhance their club experience.Plan and execute member engagement events and activities to build community and increase member satisfaction.Analyze membership trends and provide reports to the General Manager/COO and Board of Directors.Complete understanding of the Club’s Bylaws, Rules and Regulations and policies.Complete understanding of the various membership classifications to include initiation fees, dues, capital fees and amenities.Communications:Collaborate with Administrative Assistant on club communications including newsletters, emails, social media, and website content.Collaborate with Administrative Assistant to create marketing materials, including brochures, flyers, and advertisements, to promote club events and activities.Maintain the club's brand image and ensure consistency across all communication channels.Collaborate with Department Heads to ensure cohesive messaging and promote cross-departmental initiatives.Manage the Club’s social media accounts.Event Management:Assist in the planning and promotion of club events, ensuring they are well-publicized and well-attended.Work with the events team to ensure member communications about events are clear and engaging.Attend club events to interact with members and gather feedback for continuous improvement.Member Services:Serve as the primary point of contact for member inquiries and concerns.Provide exceptional customer service to members, resolving issues promptly and effectively.Maintain accurate and up-to-date membership records and databases.Assist with all members monthly billings such as dues, capital dues, GHIN fees, locker rooms and bag storage and more.Act as the Board of Director Liaison with scheduling meetings, creating the agenda, and taking minutes.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree preferred in marketing, communications, hospitality, business administration, or a related field.Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in membership sales, marketing, or communications, preferably within the hospitality or private club industry.Proven track record of successful membership recruitment and retention.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong organizational and project management abilities.Experience with Northstar and Adobe InDesign a plus but not required.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with membership management software.Creative and strategic thinker with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.High level of professionalism and a passion for providing outstanding member experiences.Active or wanting to be active with CMAA – Club Management Association of America.Working Conditions:This position requires a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.Compensation and Benefits:This is a full-time position and is eligible for full-time employee benefits as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
