Designer III

who will use computer-based tools to design parts and assemblies, create production drawings, and manage BOMs and product configurators. Designer III's will also originate, develop, or modify product designs from conception to finished manufacturing documentation assuring quality, manufacturability, functionality, serviceability, and cost has been considered.Location:

Hybrid, Plymouth, MNWhat you will do:Create engineering documentation including Solidworks, modeling, fabrication and purchase drawings that conform to Daikin standardsTranslate engineering/marketing intent into manufacturing working 3D layouts, detailed documentation and Bill of Materials and configuratorsWork with VAVE/Product Engineers and Production Engineers to provide 3D models and documentation for original designs or custom modifications of current productsExhibit a sense of design and mechanical aptitude with abstract thinking and reasoning skills.Demonstrate creative ability, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness through incorporation into design and configurator workProvide accurate estimates of tasks on projects and execute to your estimate. Work with project management to consume and communicate additional work estimates as neededGain knowledge of design and manufacturing practices, processes, and Daikin products.Demonstrate an understanding of all current and legacy bill of material systems and product structuring logicBe part of and function in a team environment including cross-functional and inter-departmental teamsMentor less experienced drafters and designers within the teamPotentially travel to other Daikin Minnesota or Mexico facilities as needed up to 10% of the time

Minimum Qualifications:Vocational, Technical, or Associate of Applied Science degree in design/drafting4+ years of related design experienceIntermediate Excel skillsMust be proficient with creating and checking drawings to ASME Y14.5 drafting standards.Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position

Preferred Qualifications:Experience in sheet metal design and/or HVAC products is desired.
