The Research and Development Engineer will be responsible for applying engineering expertise to develop and refine products, focusing on plastic part fabrication and manufacturing techniques. They are known for fostering a collaborative and creative work environment, with a strong emphasis on balance and well-being for their employees.DescriptionResponsibilities :Collaborate with teams and customers to conceive, design, and develop new products and processes through engineering analysis, prototyping, risk assessment, and qualification testing, from concept to manufacturing release.Independently manage smaller development projects, addressing all technical aspects needed for commercial success with minimal direction from senior engineers.Evaluate, document, and implement changes to improve performance, quality, manufacturability, safety, and cost-effectiveness of existing products and processes.Design and verify tools, gauges, and equipment for new or customer-specific programs, and manufacture and validate initial part prototypes.Support qualification processes with project and development teams, leading to successful manufacturing release.Design and conduct experiments to resolve design questions, and assemble, test, and troubleshoot automated manufacturing equipment.Create manufacturing documentation for new products and processes, and apply LEAN and Six Sigma continuous improvement practices.Inspect tooling, gauges, and customer parts for dimensional accuracy using various measurement tools, and develop CMM programs for inspection and quality assurance.Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Research & Development Team LeaderProfileIdeal Candidate:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, with a preference for Mechanical Engineering but other disciplines will be considered.2-4 years of relevant engineering experience.Familiarity with plastic part fabrication techniques, including common forming and sealing methods; thermoforming experience is a plus.Understanding of machine design, basic electrical design, and standard manufacturing practices.Six Sigma Green Belt certification or higher is preferred.Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other software with the ability to quickly learn new tools.Advanced proficiency in 3D CAD software.Strong knowledge of drawing standards, including geometric tolerancing.Experience with CMM programming software and its interface preferred.Experience with CNC or manual machining is desirable but not essential.Willingness to travel domestically or internationally as needed (less than 5% of the time).Job OfferWhat's To Offer:Full coverage for health and dental insurance premiums for you and your family.Partial reimbursement for deductibles incurred by family members each year.Complete coverage for life, short-term, and long-term disability insurance.120 hours of paid personal time off (PTO).10 paid holidays each year.401(k) plan with company match up to 5% after one year of service.Annual education reimbursement of up to $1,500 after one year of service.MPI does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, or based on an individual's status in any group or class protected by applicable federal, state or local law.
