Position Purpose

The Packaging Designer and Buyer has two primary job responsibilities (1) Packaging Design and (2) Purchasing. The Packaging Designer will be responsible for creating and reviewing packaging CADs for custom design projects and internal box sizing, completing sizing and fit checks and other structural design activities. For purchasing, the Buyer has the overall responsibility for managing all stages of the procurement process for any materials needed to fulfill demand and customer requirements, including but not limited to corrugated and fiber packaging, glass bottles, PET bottles, aluminum cans and ends, and other products. The Packaging Designer and Buyer is expected to have knowledge of Material Resource Planning (“MRP”), AX Microsoft Dynamics and resolving the associated MRP messages, and inventory & supply optimization concepts. The Buyer will work with suppliers to ensure product is produced and received on time, product costs are at the expected & negotiated landed cost, claims are identified and resolved timely, and adherence to fulfillment of the supplier forecast and plan.

Primary responsibilities – Packaging designCreate CAD structural designs to support customer specification requirements and proper sizingEvaluate available on hand components and their compatibility to ensure proper sizingAnalyze common rigid container products and consolidate CADs to have the least amount of CAD designs that fit the most amount of rigid containers without compromising structural integrity and fitStore and maintain the CAD library, update product details in our Product Information Management (PIM) databaseSupport the artwork for approval process and structural sign-offPrimary responsibilities - Purchasing

Adherence and accuracy to the supplier consensus plan. Timely identification of deviations to supply consensus plan and alternative solutions if needed to get back to consensus plan.Ensures purchase orders are updated and maintained timely in AX Microsoft Dynamics to reflect the latest estimate of when product will be received at its end destination.Review and resolution of AX Material Resource Planning messages including advance, defer, increase, decrease, cancel and/or planned purchase orders.Responsible for the preparation, submit for approval, communication to supplier and ongoing maintenance of a purchase order line and the associated charges until it is received at its end destination.If there are changes in expected delivery, prices, quantities, and other pertinent requirements of our purchase, the buyer is to notify their supervisor and key stakeholders immediately and present alternative solutions, if necessary, to avoid impacts to customers and Saxco.Responsible for the accuracy of the receipt schedule and the coordination of logistics with transportation, the supplier, and our warehouses / third party logistic providers to ensure product is received on time and within expected delivery appointments.Understands the supplier’s production requirements, production lines, lead time, minimum order quantities, color / product campaigns, unit costs and additional charges (surcharges, etc.), and payment terms. This understanding will be used to support inventory optimization, supplier growth, new business development opportunities and other associated activities.Collects, maintains, and communicates to relevant stakeholder’s unit costs, surcharges, price increases, and other pertinent information.Support customer service and other stakeholders in the resolution of potential customer delivery failures. Buyer is expected to understand product specifications and be able to use provided tools to identify alternative products and solutions to meet the customer requirements.Understands market pricing for the products they purchase, identification of negotiation or cost reduction opportunities through optimization, index changes or other activities.Identification and quantification of supplier claims. To provide all supporting detail to their supervisor to support the successful negotiation and collection of the claim.Support the identification and disposition of stranded and aged inventory and other inventory optimization opportunities.If applicable, support the pre-press, artwork for approval process for timely execution and customer satisfaction of customer’s decorated / printed product.Responsible for the accuracy of supplier and item master data and participates in new item code setup to support customer requirements and supplier growth. Liaison with the supplier and internal departments to collect key item documents like bottle drawings, pallet configurations, CAD designs, artwork, and other pertinent documents for Saxco’s master data and asset library requirements.Supports the overall S&OP process, including the identification of supply optimization opportunities, supplier opportunities and risks, and associated recommendations to support company goals.*Other related projects and duties as assigned
