First Look:

The Arena Group is looking for a seasoned Deputy Editor to take its home and garden strategy to the next level. The ideal candidate will play a key role in charting the strategy and growth of the vertical, including launching a new Home and Garden offshoot of the Parade.com brand. In addition, the DE will work to integrate and grow existing Home and Garden sites, and collaborate with Arena leadership on go-to-market strategy and execution. You have an entrepreneurial mindset and are as creative as you are strategic. An expert in building home and garden content around the personalities, trends, influencers, brands and creators driving today's conversation, you're also adept at curating, sourcing and editing how-to and other content for SEO, social and referrers, and sourcing and surfacing trending content that gets clicks. Strong knowledge of the home and garden landscape, SEO, social and video, and a proven track record of shaping and executing content strategy to grow audience and engagement is a must.

The Arena Group's expected annualized base salary range for this position is currently $95,000 - 105,000. Actual salaries will vary based on multiple factors including education, experience and other factors permitted by law. The listed salary range is but one component of The Arena Group's total compensation and benefits available to its employees.

What You'll Do:Collaborate with Arena Lifestyle leadership on setting the voice/narrative for our home and garden brands (dengarden.com and a new Parade-focused brand)Oversee content planning and collaborate on strategy for all home and garden sites including trending news, evergreen, and referral content. Create a strong editorial calendar to drive audience growth.Collaborate with Lifestyle Content leadership and Audience teams to develop a strategy that pulls traffic from a variety of platforms, including search, referrers, and emailCollaborate with the Lifestyle Content leadership and Audience teams to leverage and grow SEO, referral, Discover and Google News traffic and on social, video and newsletter strategy.Work with a trending news editor to curate, assign, create headlines, and top edit for a new Parade site and DenGarden.com. Please note that curating content may occur outside of traditional working hours, including evenings and weekends, to stay on top of the latest trends and newsHire/manage outsourced and freelance writers and resourcesApprove pitches and headlines submitted by writers, and top edit as necessaryManage/oversee optimization of existing evergreen contentWrite posts as neededWillingness to take direction and learn about other sites and topics as needed, including Pets, Food, and Parenting

What You'll Bring:A minimum of 7-8 years of post-grad editing and writing experience as part of an editorial team, with a focus on editing and directing content.
