Reports To: Site-Director

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in education or related field with a valid Georgia teaching certificat

Highly qualified to teach class assigned as defined by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GAPSC)

Ability to relate well to students, parents, and co-workers

Access to a personal computer and reliable internet

Duties:Implement writing curriculum as embedded in ELA coursesEvaluate student performance fairly and consistently using system rubrics and return student work promptly to promote maximum learningWork collaboratively with other writing instructors to develop writing rubrics for ELA coursesWork collaboratively with other writing instructors to increase consistency in scoringProvide feedback to students regarding improvement in their writingRemediate students' writing deficienciesAssist students in preparation for constructed responses in Milestones testingSupport Foothills' commitment to mastery learningParticipate in system and local efforts of professional learning; teachers will utilize and implement skills and best practices obtained in professional learning in the classroom to raise the achievement of studentsSupport students with encouragementUtilize time effectivelyEffectively manage the behavior of learners to ensure the environment is conducive to the learning process and assist in the management of student behavior in other parts of the school and school groundsWork in a self-contained, team, departmental, or itinerant capacity as assigned; teachers will work collaboratively in horizontal and vertical teams on a frequent basis to review assessment data and modify instruction to improve student achievementMaintain up-to-date and accurate student grade records and attendance recordsEnsure continuous communication with parents, both written and oral, to keep them informed of student progress and behaviorSupport and/or participate in school-wide student activities, social events, and fundraisersEffectively supervise teacher assistant performance, if applicableParticipate in faculty and professional meetings, professional learning, and other training working through the site director and/or curriculum director and apply concepts learned in the classroom to increase student learning
