Bachelor's degree in education, a Visual Art discipline such as Drawing, Painting, 3D, Studio Art, etc., Art Education, or related field is preferredMaster's degree preferredValid Teaching Certification Issued by Texas Education Agency appropriate to subject and grade level of assignmentMinimum of 3 years of experience teaching preferredAbility to demonstrate proper artistic techniques in a variety of mediums (e.g. drawing, painting, sculpting, etc.)Demonstrated knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment of instructional specialtyDemonstrated knowledge of adolescent growth and development or, if applicable, adult learning theoryProven ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programsAbility to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of studentsAbility to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, and parentsExcellent communication skills, both orally and writtenPhysical Requirements/Working Conditions

The position requires occasional walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting/carrying work related items weighing less than 40 pounds, such as books, papers and presentation materials. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Attendance at conferences and professional development is required. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.

Additional Information

This position may require travel to various campuses, district meeting sites and conferences/meetings in and out of state. This position may require the employee to work some evenings and weekends. Work may include noisy and/or disruptive student behavior. Potential exposure to bodily fluids and frequent childhood, pre-teen or teen illnesses may occur.
