The Senior Manager, Digital Marketing & Member Engagement will leverage technology, creativity and marketing expertise to enhance the digital presence and engagement strategies of the American Anthropological Association (AAA). This role focuses on optimizing user experience (UX) across the organization’s digital channels, conducting market analysis for membership structures, managing social media initiatives, and supporting special events and sponsorship activities. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of tactical and strategic thinking and the technical expertise to drive engagement and membership growth.Responsibilities:Market Analysis & Membership Structures:Conduct thorough, ongoing market research and analysis to uncover industry trends, competitor activities, and member needs.Develop data-driven insights to inform membership structure improvements and growth strategies.Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of marketing efforts.Digital Marketing Strategy Development:Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive digital marketing strategic plan aligned with AAA’s goals and objectives.Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure cohesive and effective multichannel marketing campaigns.UX/UI Optimization:Oversee the experience design and functionality of AAA’s website and digital platforms in collaboration with the Website & Database Administrator.Conduct regular monitoring, usability studies and user experience research to identify and prioritize areas for improvement.Work with key stakeholders like designers and developers to implement UI and UX enhancements that improve user engagement and satisfaction.Content Marketing:Develop compelling and relevant content that resonates with target audiences and supports AAA’s objectives.Utilize search marketing to gain online engagement.Ensure consistency in messaging and branding across all digital channels.Special Events & Sponsorship:Collaborate with the events team to promote special events and maximize attendance and engagement through digital marketing channels.Develop and execute sponsorship marketing plans to enhance sponsor visibility and engagement.Create and maintain relationships with sponsors and partners to support event and sponsorship goals.Collaboration & Leadership:Lead and mentor a team of marketing and membership professionals.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align marketing efforts.Provide regular reports and insights to senior management on the effectiveness of digital marketing strategies.Media Relations:Cultivate relationships with key media targets.Actively monitor, track, and circulate relevant media coverage.Write and edit communications materials in collaboration with PR vendor.Other:Provide staff support for AAA Board Committees/Commissions as assigned.Assist with planning and executing of AAA signature and special eventsOther duties as assigned.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field.Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in digital marketing, UX/UI, market analysis, social media management, and special events/sponsorship, preferably for a nonprofit or membership-based organization.Proven track record of developing and executing successful digital marketing campaigns.Strong analytical skills and experience with web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics).Proficiency in UX/UI principles and tools, audience engagement and/or visual design and media.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Leadership experience with the ability to inspire and manage a team.Strong project management skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.Experience both planning and creating design assets for successful multi-channel marketing and communications campaigns.Graphic design skills and visual creativity and proficiency with, or willingness to learn, graphic design tools such as Photoshop or Canva.Experience managing performance-oriented paid and organic social media campaigns, such as Meta and/or Google Ads.Experience with SalesForce Marketing Cloud, Constant Contact, or another similar email platform preferred.Experience with external client/partner relationship management preferred.
