POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Marketing utilizes day-to-day marketing tactics across multiple communication platforms to build aconsistent brand and to develop and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders. This role is multifaceted andrequires a self-starting leadership style and excellent interpersonal and project management skills, as well as anunderstanding of the Foundation's revenue streams, events, and programs funded. All position responsibilities mustbe performed in accordance with city, state, federal and Company policy.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESDIRECTOR OF MARKETING DUTIES

Develop and implement strategies from CEF's annual marketing plan.

Create and coordinate promotional and marketing materials for CEF programs.

Create new and enhanced communication tools.

Coordinate marketing activities with community partners.

Work with the CEO to manage and train staff, volunteers, board of directors and others around marketingactivities.

Work within project-related and marketing budgets.

Generate news releases and other media-relations activities.

Manage the production of all community and donor communication, including newsletters, website, annualreports, and brochures.

Actively maintain the CEF website including new content, coordination with hosting company and somegraphic elements.

Generate content, collaborate with staff, and actively grow CEF's presence on social media outlets includingFacebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Instagram.

Manage email marketing efforts, including developing content and optimizing schedule and frequency basedon analytics.

In conjunction with the board and staff, coordinate and revise marketing strategies as needed.

Other key duties as assigned by management.

EARNED INCOME

Support the Foundation to achieve its earned income revenue goals and adapt communication andmarketing deliverables to accommodate Carlsbad Unified School District (CUSD) learning models.

Develop the strategy and content for all earned income programs: Kids Care, summer programs, andafter-school enrichment; other programs that support CUSD learning models.

Direct marketing tactics for communication and reaching enrollment goals.

Propose for approval to hire qualified independent contractors, temporary agency employees and/orinterns to facilitate and execute on the strategic communication outreach initiatives.

PHILANTHROPY

Support the Foundation to achieve its philanthropic revenue goals by collaborating with the PhilanthropyDirector to create donor materials and fundraising assets, messaging and targeted strategies as needed.

Work directly with PTAs, CUSD teachers, and students to tell stories of programs and our mission to ourcommunity and donors.

BRAND AND MISSION

Align the Foundation as the largest district-wide supporter for the CUSD.

Progress CEF as a convener for community and opportunity provider for enriching educational experiences.

Focus fundraising events to be mission-based.

Direct and coordinate marketing tactics with freelancers and outside agencies for communication.

Direct visual identity, communication, and event production for annual fundraising gala to achieveattendee and fundraising goals.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Bachelor's degree required. Masters's degree preferred.

5+ years of marketing or related field. Emphasis on non-profit marketing, writing, public relations, brandingand social media.

Experience in graphic design required (Adobe Creative Suite preferred)

Experience working with board members and volunteers preferred.

Experience working with school districts, community organizations, parents, or students preferred.

California Department of Justice fingerprint and background clearance.
