Role Summary

Free People Movement is seeking Summer Design Intern to join the To/From Knit and Wovens Team. FP Movement To/From focuses on seamlessly taking her from from the studio to the street by providing elevated athleisure, heavy knits, fleeces, and third pieces in Femme Streetwear/Casual Apparel. The design intern will utilize hand & digital sketching skills & the ability to communicate design ideas via CAD and AI to assist in the development of product as well as bring these ideas to life thru use of mocking, sewing and draping actual garments to present in key design meetings.

The URBN 2025 Summer Internship Program will run from 6/2 through 8/8 at our Home Office in Philadelphia, PA.

Summer Internship Program Application Process:

Apply to one (1) internship posting that best suits your interest & skills. If there is a project component required for the design internship position you are applying for, you will be notified directly by 11/8. If requested to complete a project, it is required that you submit this to be considered for a position.Complete Video Interview: Candidates selected will receive an email with a link to complete a video Interview. You will have 2 days to complete this portion of the application once the email is received.Interviews will be scheduled with our internal teams, continuing on a rolling basis.

Applications will close at 5:00pm EST on November 4th 2024.

Role Responsibilities

Support existing design team during creative process cycle (support sketching, mocking, fitting help, etc.).Sketching new styles and doing sketch updates via Procreate and Adobe programs as well as AI programs such as MidJourney.Mock, sew and drape new ideas in preparation of key design meetings and presentations.Help create design packages once styles are ready to be sent to vendors.Help doing artwork and color packages for weekly design packages.Help prepare final digital design presentation for upcoming meetings using team's shared Power Point documents.Help organize and propose new tools to help design team meet upcoming design deadlines (fabric info, fabric swatching, getting samples organized, etc.).Attend fittings for the category you are on, help take notes and pictures from the meeting and help send comments over to vendors.Participate in doing relevant trend research related to delivery design team is working on. Help pull new ideas and styling details to help support upcoming design meetings that is supporting your category and is in line with the Free People customer.Role Qualifications

Strong sense of organizational skills and proactiveness, great communication skills and ability to multi task.Mocking/ Sewing skills.Excellent hand and computer sketching/ CAD skills in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop as well as Procreate. AI knowledge/experience would be a plus!Proficient in Microsoft platforms (Excel, Powerpoint & Word).Interest, education or experience in activewear, lounge or athliesure apparel design.
