Job Overview:

The Communications Manager for North America will be responsible for developing, managing, and executing RM Sotheby’s North American public relations and communication strategies under the Director of Public Relations (North America), and alongside the UK Communications team.

The ideal candidate should have a strong background in automotive communications and public relations, possess exceptional organizational skills. This individual must have excellent public speaking and writing abilities, a deep passion for cars, and be able to communicate effectively across various channels. The role demands a highly motivated self-starter capable of working in a fast-paced environment with or without supervision, while exhibiting strong interpersonal skills and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the global PR team to execute and plan comprehensive public relations strategies surrounding RM Sotheby’s sales, special vehicles, and various announcements. Align all efforts with the company’s business objectives, focusing on brand positioning, growth, and overall awareness.Build and maintain strong relationships with key automotive, lifestyle, and luxury media outlets. Continue to nurture existing relationships with RM Sotheby’s media partners, OEMs, clients, and private organizations. Pitch stories, arrange interviews, and secure top-tier media coverage in luxury and automotive publications.Ownership of RM Sotheby’s press release schedule. Maintain continuous communication with internal teams, including marketing, PR, research teams, and management to ensure timely and accurate dissemination of information.Craft compelling press releases, media pitches, and assist the social media team with content. Support and contribute to storytelling that elevates RM Sotheby’s messaging across all platforms.Coordinate media coverage for RM Sotheby’s events, including major auctions, car exhibitions, and luxury lifestyle collaborations. Oversee the media experience at events, ensuring everything is seamless, well-organized, and aligned with the company’s image. Act as one of the key PR representatives on-site at events.Approve or disapprove media requests for website access, auction access, and event access with careful consideration to ensure only the most relevant media are granted privileges.Handle VIP and client communications with utmost discretion and professionalism, ensuring personalized and thoughtful interactions.Manage relationships with influencers, content creators, and brand ambassadors to extend the reach of RM Sotheby’s messaging and engage a global audience.

Qualifications:

Experience :

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in corporate communications/public relations, with a focus and passion for the automotive industry.Exceptional media relations skills with a proven ability to maintain a network of contacts across international media outlets, influencers, and content creators.Strong experience managing PR for large-scale events, including press access, VIP guest appearances, and media coverage for auctions, exhibitions, and luxury brand activations.Proven ability to build long-term relationships with journalists, clients, influencers, and stakeholders in the luxury and automotive industries.Extremely organized, detail-oriented, and capable of thriving in a high-stress, fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with the ability to craft high-quality press releases and pitches that resonate with target audiences.Excellent public speaking and presentation skills.An understanding of social media channels and digital marketing trends. Experience working with digital influencers and content creators to expand brand visibility across platforms.Comfortable working with international clients and media. Willingness to travel across North America and potentially globally to support events and PR opportunities.
