JOB SUMMARY

The Marketing Project Manager will be responsible for managing projects for the Marketing team, primarily fast-paced short-term Creative projects (such as online ads; printed brochures and mailers; wall graphics and banners; and web graphics) and longer-term Web projects for content-driven websites, encompassing multiple phases (including research and discovery; site structure and page design; content creation and technical development, analytics tagging and launch. This position will simultaneously manage 1-2 website projects and 7 - 20 creative projects.

This position is a shared resource for Marketing, working primarily with the Creative and Web teams, reporting to the leader of the Creative team with a dotted line responsibility to the leader of the Web team. In addition, this position will share regular status updates with the Chief Communications Officer.

Regarding Creative projects, the project manager will own the critical path from project intake to execution, including acceptance, partner management, scheduling, kickoff, design, internal approvals and release of final assets. Creative projects may also include working with and managing timelines for external contractors and printers.

Regarding Web projects, the project manager will be the main point of contact for a web redesign project, overseeing the multi-month process of revising public-facing websites, creating project plans and timelines, scheduling and leading meetings, partner management and approvals, and site launch, anticipating and resolving issues throughout and keeping the projects on schedule.

This position may also provide project management expertise to other types of projects within the department, such as creating timelines for a magazine.

As a key member of the Marketing, Insights, and Communication team, the Marketing Project Manager will manage and prioritize a large volume of varied digital and print projects simultaneously, ensure an efficient flow of project deliverables, drive phases to completion, deliver projects on time, and improve processes and documentation along the way, while remaining aligned with the strategy, commitments, and goals of the University.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Manage multiple Creative projects, including reviewing and prioritizing intake requests, using the creative project management system to create timelines, assign resources, and ensure project tasks are completed; scheduling and leading kick-off meetings; following-up on tasks with the Creative team and Partners; getting bids from external contractors and printers and managing those resources; and overseeing the projects to completion.

Manage long-term Web projects, creating a project plan and timeline with clear scope, milestones and deliverables, and overseeing all project-related activities. Help identify, assess, and manage potential risks to projects and interdependencies, including related content and technology deliverables. Ensure that: project scope, approach, timelines, and dependencies are fully understood by all stakeholders; project objectives are met; brand, accessibility, and legal standards are followed; and the project stays on schedule, escalating issues as needed, and/or problem-solving along the way.

Manage and facilitate successful collaboration between MIC and its partners; mitigate communication gaps among members of a project team; provide reports to leadership on project status; provide project direction and support as needed.

Implement best practices, processes, templates, and tools related to the creation of content-driven websites, suggesting improvements, identifying gaps, escalating concerns, and assisting with documentation. Continually look for ways to enhance productivity through process improvements, task automation, and new technology.

QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, project management, or a related field, or a certificate in project management

Three years of relevant, professional experience as a project manager leading web or creative projects from conception to launch/delivery.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with project management software (i.e. Lytho or MS Project)

Experience with web content management systems (CMS), specifically Cascade CMS

Experience working on content-driven web projects with complex integrations

Familiarity working with webpage writers and designers, SEO experts, and analytic teams

An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired may be substituted.
