The Scientific Communications and Information Sciences (SCIS) Library Support Specialist is a library support role within SCIS Library team that reports directly to the Director of the Library. The Library Support Specialist is responsible for overseeing the usage of the journals and books of which we subscribe as well as troubleshooting any problems that may arise. The ideal candidate will possess business acumen along with technical skills, excellent communication skills, and background in pharma/biotech.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$34.28 - $47.59

Required Qualifications, Skills and ExperienceEducation:MLS in library sciences or the equivalentBS in life sciences

Primary Assignments:Oversees document delivery company requests; handles any problems that may arise with end users obtaining articlesObtains journal articles and book chapters for agency partnersTriages Library Help mailbox emailsWorks with translation company to upload finished translations to the Clinical Literature Information Center; updates metadata as necessaryCreate reports based on document delivery usageReports on publisher “tokens” usage ROI to inform future purchasesManages access to systems such as pharmacopeias and databasesContributes to user acceptance testing and to system development lifecycleCustomer Focused – Driven to understand customer needs, improve services, and maintain effective customer relations.

Required Skills and Experience:Ability to perform independent research to learn and master new systems and toolsExcellent organizational skills to multi-task effectivelyAbility to problem solveAbility to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholdersProficient in Microsoft Office productivity (Excel, PowerPoint)
