OPRF , is a comprehensive public high school located in Oak Park, Ill., a suburb eight miles due west of downtown Chicago. We are a one-school district, with the majority of our students coming from two sender districts, River Forest Public Schools District 90 and Oak Park Elementary School District 97. We offer more than 200 courses, a variety of programs for students with special needs, 75 clubs and activities, and 29 competitive sports. We are currently seeking individuals to join our team where we enable all students to achieve their full potential every day.Position Summary:Oak Park and River Forest High School Theatre Department is looking for a creative Music Director to be responsible for teaching all vocal music for the class production. This person will work with the director to create the best vision for the production, and will be a collaborative teacher/leader who will work well with both students and adults.Qualifications:Moderate piano skills needed to teach music to studentsExperience leading or teaching a diverse group of studentsProven experience in theatrical musical directionMusical expertise in vocal onlyUnderstanding of a range of styles and cultural/historical elements of the music of the productionExcellent communication and people skillsCreativity and attention to detailAbility to collaborate with director and production staffOrganized with positive attitudeEssential Duties and Responsibilities:Auditioning the singers and making casting recommendations to the director.Attending class 4th period 3-4 days per week during Semester 1.Teaching the cast members their music.Leading music rehearsals.Supporting, attending and contributing to full cast rehearsals.Making sure the production track works and is ready for rehearsals and performances.Studying script and music to understand music requirements in terms of setting, era and character attributes.Other Duties:Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
