ROLE:
Daily production of a quality news product as defined by the FOX 5/KUSI brands. Accuracy, excellence in production techniques, writing, story treatment, relevance to the viewing audience, and ability to generate ratings.
Read on to find out what you will need to succeed in this position, including skills, qualifications, and experience.RESPONSIBILITIES:Produce and booth assigned newscast and shape overall coverageWrite news stories, teases and headlinesCollaborate with team of anchors, reporters, writers and editors to ensure production of accurate, updated and engaging news contentAttend editorial meetings and pitch/vet story ideasStay informed on current affairsAssist reporters and managers with logistics and proofreading scriptsPlan future segments and book day turn newsmakers as content dictatesMaintain strong, professional social media presence and use it to find and promote contentAdditional duties as necessaryEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism or related field is desired.Minimum 3 years relevant line producing experience in working newsroom.REQUIREMENTS/JOB SKILLS:Must be able to work well under extreme pressure and deadlinesMust have solid news judgmentMust be a consistent and solid story and tease writerMust show initiative and have ability to act decisively and independentlyMust interact positively and productively with others and take feedbackMust be a leader in a strong team environmentMust have strong organizational skills and be detail-orientedMust be technically nimble to take advantage of newsroom resourcesMust be flexible with schedule and fill-in different shifts, weekends, holidays as neededMay produce additional cut-ins, special reports or breaking news as neededComp starting at $28+ hr commensurate with experience and skill level#LI-Onsite
