JOB TITLE SUMMARY Job Title: Assistant Vice President, Marketing Division: Enrollment and Marketing Evaluation Group: Staff Administrator FLSA Status: Exempt Reports To: Vice President, Enrollment and Marketing Positions Supervised: Director, Creative Content; Director, Integrated Marketing; Manager, Web Strategy and Development Job Summary The assistant vice president (AVP), marketing is responsible for directing and overseeing operations within the University marketing function. The AVP, marketing collaborates with other departments, such as Enrollment Management, to promote the University and monitors the success of the University's marketing efforts. Job Responsibilities and Execution Supervises the Marketing team's efforts, including brand strategy and management; digital/print/audio advertising; web strategy; video production and strategy; licensing/trademark management; creative project management; and marketing data analytics in collaboration with Strategic Enrollment Management Builds a shared vision for University marketing through inspirational leadership and exceptional management skills; guides the team's decision-making processes Collaborates with Enrollment Management to implement marketing plans that promote the University, enhance student interest, and result in lead generation Recognizes industry and competitive trends; identifies and targets specific, new, or underserved markets Oversees production of print and online ads; collaborates with Communications on special events, promotions, and media outreach; directs all aspects of publications, including graphic design, website communications, and digital marketing strategies Researches, negotiates, and purchases strategic media buys to increase enrollment, champion academic quality, and enhance national prominence of the University Develops, manages, and communicates complex annual marketing budget, integrating budget decisions with strategic planning and institutional efficiency Encourages an innovative environment that promotes teamwork, collaboration, trust, and accountability Fosters diverse ideas, autonomy of work, and excellence in attention to detail/accuracy Implements a data-driven, decision-making culture to guide University marketing efforts Supports executive leadership with research, writing, editing, and dissemination of communiqués and marketing initiatives, including presentations, talking points, speeches, event briefings, and other communications Leadership and Strategic Thinking Establishes long- and short-term strategic goals based on assessment data and ensures standards for the department and its field are met or exceeded Adapts and modifies leadership based on new information and/or data; works to set and unite people on the new direction Utilizes effective strategies to build collaboration for maximum execution Aligns division/department purpose and actions with relevant University initiatives and higher education trends Identifies professional development opportunities for Marketing team Seeks out opportunities to exchange and integrate innovative ideas into existing service delivery Measures and reports on performance, assessing against pre-established marketing goals Employee Management and Development Supports the mission of the University and serves as an ambassador of the Q2 culture of service excellence Models, supports, and holds others accountable to the University's values Recruits, interviews, recommends, welcomes, observes, and monitors performance of department staff Sets clear performance expectations and holds employees accountable Conducts annual employee evaluations based on evidence, observation, and feedback Provides autonomy to enable staff to meet job expectations Job may require other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications - An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered. Additional requirements may be designated by position. Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, business, management, marketing, or related field Minimum of 7 years' experience in marketing strategy and execution Master's degree preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - May be representative, but not all inclusive, of the knowledge, skills, and abilities commonly associated with this position.
