The Technical Design Manager will be a key part in the development process, forming sound engineering concepts with the use of visually appealing presentations. They will be the conduit between Marketing and Engineering as projects transition from creative ideation to a refined concept we can quote and manufacture. They will lead a team of industrial and graphics designers to nurture cost competitiveness and manufacturing while relating to creatives in our space. Will need to drive efficiency through organizing project schedules and optimizing the use of 2D and 3D software.

A selfless leader that operates as we, and not I.Delivers engineering direction to the team.Strong understanding of engineering and manufacturing in wood, steel, and plastics.High level of business acumen regarding key attributes of “winning”.Freight, value engineering, margin, and customer relationshipsAbility to use MRP system to populate information, assign tasks, track progress, and gather key metrics in support of development.Establish a partnership with sales development to jointly drive front line customer engagement in the client journey. Understand our customers’ needs and translate to solid creative and technical value for the client.Coordinate cross-functionally with marketing leadership to conceive and execute consistent, on-brand account development tools in the VIRA development process that lead to revenue generation.Work closely with engineering to efficiently evolve from technical design into manufacturing; use SolidWorks to develop concepts will be an integral part.Research customer objectives and merchandise presentation techniques to assist in the development of projects.Lead and develop the team in support of executing on deliverables for customers using strong design and technical skills.Sketching, 3D CAD, Rendering and 2D creative suites.Contribute to deliverables as a working manager at times when capacity is at a high.Responsible for 3D installation instructions and support of 2D.Value engineering of existing product offerings to improve margin.Performs other duties as needed and assigned.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This position does have direct reports.POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Foundation in engineering principles.Strong understanding of wood, metal, and plastics manufacturing.Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, and database management programs specifically the Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.Good at drawing/mechanical drafting.Attention to detail.Practical, yet creative.REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in industrial design, design engineering, engineering, product design, relevant field, or a combination of education and experience.Minimal (5) years of experience in product design and manufacturing.Minimal of (2) years of management experience.SolidWorks 3D CAD or other computer-aided industrial design (CAID) software.OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:

This position must be able to travel up to 10% of the time or as required.Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear.Must have a valid driver's license.Must be able to lift to 50 pounds, bend, and walk and climb stairs.The above is intended to describe the general content of and requirements for the performance of this job.
