Communications/Social Media Intern

The Southern Professional Hockey League, based in Huntersville, NC, is seeking a paid Communications/Social Media Intern for the 2024-2025 season.
Under the direction of the Commissioner, the Student Intern will be responsible for the league's communications and social media postings.
Timeline and hours:Dates: September 30through season (end date to be determined)15 - 18 hours per week in office (Monday-Friday)Weekends as needed based on need
Previous sports experience is preferred, but not required, for this position.Rather, applicants must possess a willingness to work, learn, and take on different roles.This position will be working with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite programs, and Quark XPress desktop publishing software.
Projected Responsibilities
Write and distribute league press releasesCreate, update, and oversee website contentCreate and distribute weekly/daily game previews/recapsManage all SPHL social media accountsCreate engaging website graphicsPost releases to Facebook, Twitter, and InstagramMonitor team releases and local media for articles and items of interest for website and social mediaCollaborate with teams for contentCollect Player of the Week/Month nominations from teamsWrite and distribute weekly/monthly/season award releasesPerform office administrative duties as neededSkills
Strong writer and communicatorStrong time management, organizational, and proofreading skillsExcellent attention to detailKnowledge and experience using Photoshop, Lightroom, and Illustrator (Graphic Design)
