The Professional Development Designer is responsible for developing scalable, high-quality learning experiences, instructional products, and tools, including multimedia and digital content for Fly Five license holders, potential customers, and Fly Five Ambassadors

The Professional Development Designer will incorporate technical skills and knowledge to plan, develop, and deliver instructional design, implementation, and engagement support for adult learners. The Professional Development Designer will innovate within instructional design to align with best practices and trends, incorporating technical skills, knowledge, and capabilities to foster the professional development of educators. They will utilize efficient processes to adhere to deadlines with a focus on continuous improvement. The PD Designer identifies opportunities to engage and guide school communities with training to support Fly Five implementation initially and in the long term.

This position is also responsible for collaborating with members of a matrix team of developers, designers, editors, reviewers, researchers, and others to develop, write, and design learning content and products. This is a remote and contractual position.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Instructional Design & Customer Knowledge

Provides high-quality professional development experiences for internal staff, school leaders, Ambassadors, potential customers and license holders.Designs and facilitates adult learning for a variety of audiences.Creates updates to instructional elearning experiences in existing courses to ensure that it is within trends and best practices in andragogy and instructional design.Has an understanding of adult learners' needs to provide effective professional development learning experiencesDesigns all parts of workshops for optimal adult learning engagement, including Instructor's Guidelines, PowerPoint, Resource Books, and any other support materialsIdentifies video needs for training purposes and interview questions to support implementation training.Designs elearning training including webinars, asynchronous, blended, interactive and videos based on the content and needs of the audiencePrepares how-to videos to help users implement the curriculum effectivelyManages and facilitates online learning communities through internal digital tools and external media channelsCreates engaging learning that encourage learner motivation and investment, including micro-credentialing and digital badgingAdheres to deliverables for all timelines, frameworks, protocols, and processes for producing, designing, and editing coursework-related products and contentAdjusts instructional delivery based on training goals, initiatives, and audienceWhen implementing instructional practices, considers current research from various leaders in the field including, but not limited to, cultural centers, conferences, focus groups, school leaders, university staff, and researchersMedia

Plan, create and curate instructional, testimonial and marketing media, including video, audio, simulations, role play and games to meet training and promotional needsAssess needs for participant engagement on learning platformsInitiate and implement engagement media to increase learner engagement and course completion ratesImplements appropriate instructional technology, media trends and advancements to meet the needs of adult learnersIdentifies video clip use and organizes a video clip library to meet instructional and promotional needsCurates and creates video clips to include in learning experiences.Plans, initiates and posts engagement content for online learners including polls, networking, articles, and social media posts.Communication and Expectations

Follows through on internal training to stay current with Fly Five curriculum updatesMeets regularly throughout the workweek via video conference to provide status updates, communicate roles and responsibilities for the workload, strategically plan tasks to meet deliverables, and discuss challenges that need problem-solvingOperates within the team to maintain a positive culture, clear communication, and professional collegialityPromotes and models the agreed-upon group norms of the department and all matrix teamsAnticipates and adopts innovations in digital applications and technologySeeks to improve processes, from small tweaks to complete reengineeringUtilizes evaluation tools for each phase of instructional designKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND QUALIFICATIONS

A four-year degree in the field of education, instructional design, or a related discipline from a regionally accredited institution and five or more years of teaching experienceExperience working with authoring tools and video productionExperience working with collaborative team projects involving internal and external stakeholdersExcellent time management and strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skillsDemonstrated ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise mannerAbility and interest in working with a high degree of autonomy and professionalismProficiency with Microsoft Office and Google SuiteAppreciates and values diversityAbility to pass periodic background (including fingerprint) checksPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to use a computer for up to eight hours per dayAbility to talk on the phone for up to four hours per dayAbility to lift up to 30 pounds on occasionAbility to travel by airplane or car, at times extensively
