Serves as the Director of the Office of Design, which directly oversees the functions and activities of the sections within the Office of Design including the Director’s Office, Structures Design Office, Roadway Design Office, and Production Support Office.Establishes and carries out policies, procedures, and specific objectives to ensure the effective and efficient functioning of the above offices necessary to accomplish their respective assigned responsibilities. Assists in maintaining and improving operating efficiency within the division.Reviews and approves criteria and standards developed by the above offices for accomplishing their operational work on a statewide basis. Ensure these are carried out within the constraints of the number of approved positions and rate provided in the legislative budget.Coordinates between every office within the Office of Design and between other offices and divisions within the Department and the Federal Highway Administration. Ensures effective communication, proper performance, and elimination of duplicated effort.Participates in the development of departmental policies, five-year work program, budgets, and top management guidance.Ensures the departmental policies and directives applicable to this division are disseminated and carried out through day-to-day operations.Ensures proper program objectives are set and accomplished economically and in a such a manner as to satisfy the design needs of the overall transportation program.Provides coordination with locals (city and county) as well as various transportation industry partners on programs relating to the office’s area of jurisdiction.Oversees technical and political aspects of all work being carried out by the Office of Design.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
