Salary:
$70,000 to $100,000
Summary:The Piping Designer provides detailed design of piping systems & components used during project execution of industrial plant design.
Duties/Responsibilities:Mentor and give direction to other designers.Utilize CAD software to create mechanical drawings for engineering of the plant.Layout of piping systems, pipe routing, equipment, and utility systems for projects.Utilize P&IDs to design piping routings, and check designs.Proficient in AutoCAD software & related Autodesk products.Take conceptual designs, sketches, and ideas from engineers and Sr. designers to develop the details for a complete, engineered drawing capable of being used for purchasing, erection in the field, design analysis, etc.Work with outside engineering firms to coordinate piping engineering on large projects.Create bill of materials based on piping design & isometrics.Travel to job sites to perform analyses of existing equipment, piping routes, layouts, etc. for use in developing future plans, proposals, etc.Travel on trips and/or field assignments as to conduct departmental tasks and functions.Perform checking of drawings for consistency with conceptual ideas, design, sketches, etc.Required Skills:Advanced computer skills using Microsoft and Autodesk.Microsoft Excel including pivot tables lists for engineering.Proficient in AVEVA 3D design or equivalent techniques.Be proficient in use of AutoCAD software.Excellent technical writing and people skills.Ability to meet schedule and deliverable deadlines.Knowledge of pipe, pipe fittings, valves, piping supports, and insulation used in various industrial applications.Ability to read and understand piping isometrics.Ability to supervise field erection activities including supplying technical and installation assistance for piping systems used in DR and/or steel industry.Preferred Skills:Knowledge of piping design including stress analysis.International travel and Industrial plant experience.Education and Experience:Associate degree in mechanical discipline and ten years of direct experience in a technical environment, or fifteen years of direct experience in a technical environment.Note: Any pay ranges displayed are estimations.
