Who You Are:

As the Associate Designer for Men's Accessories for Outlet, you have a strong background in bag, small leather goods and belt design. You are detail oriented, organized, have strong technical skills and the ability to multitask and manage competing calendar deadlines. You are collaborative, a strong communicator, results driven and thrive in a rapidly changing environment.

What You'll Do:Understand the Michael Kors aesthetic and translate it into the product.Oversee seasonal conceptualization and creation of design concepts for Bags, Small Leather Goods and Belts for two channels: Outlet and Cut Up (Off-Price).Researching global markets and competitive shopping in order to identify new trends, novelty techniques, branding techniques, materials, trim details and hardware inspiration.Tradeshow (both domestic and international) attendance.Diversifying all bag shape silhouettes, to ensure we are offering medium to small shapes to address multiple end uses.Expand the CUT-UP (off-price) bag assortment and to ensure a new design language evolves to refresh both the buyer and customer perception.Innovating belt buckle hardware and bag hardware. Sketching hardware specs and renderings.Working w/ costing and PD teams to ensure best practices w/ design engineering and allocation.Work w/ materials team to ensure cost-effective materials and leathers are being presented.Responsible for product design process including market research, mood board creation, designing, sketching, spec'ing and function.Oversee product from concept right up to production and communicate any changes to the appropriate cross-functional partners.Communicating daily with factories, mills, tanneries and our China office PD support team.Maintain a library of core and seasonal product offerings, master specs, and design standardsCollaborate with Merchandising and Technical Design to finalize the line each season in tight deadlines.You'll Need to Have:

3-4 years of design experience with Men's AccessoriesAbility to work in the

NYC

office 3-5 days a week as neededStrong Technical Skills, as it relates to leather goods construction.Full scale pattern making and excellent technical drawing skills a must.Excellent proficiency in Adobe Illustrator (Photoshop a plus)Some print/pattern/repeat design skills is a plus!Strong ability to multitask, prioritize multiple projects at once and manage competing calendar deadlinesThe ability to set a creative tone and to inspire ideas/new conceptsThe ability to conceptually visualize and build a line and groups of bags that share common design threads.Experience communicating the development with factories.Excellent design communication skills.We'd Love to See:

Compensation Range:$53,000.00-$88,000.00
