Primary Purpose of Position:The Marketing Supervisor is responsible for long- and short-term goals, general oversight and day-to-day operations of NCMH's community engagement, graphics, and publications. This section manages public relations, customer service, special event and marketing strategies. Position is responsible for developing, implementing, analyzing, and adjusting marketing trends to increase effectiveness of the program. The marketing program will assess marketing initiatives, exhibitions, educational programming, capital improvements, public relations, visitor and customer services, group tours, the North Carolina Museum of History Foundation Distinguished Lecture Series,and special events.

This position is an integral part of the NCMH leadership team working in conjunction with the NCMH Foundation, the North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources, the NCMH Associates, NCMH internal and external stakeholders. This position focuses on collaborative, public relations and marketing projects or educational programs that involve one or more of the organizations. This position establishes and supervises work assignments of nine full-time and part-time positions requiring collaborative leadership, management, coaching and development of a diverse staff.

Section/Unit Description:The Communications and Marketing Section of the NCMH works closely with theNorth Carolina Department of Cultural Resources, the NCMH Director, the NCMHFoundation Director, the NC Museum of History Associates Director, and museum staff to serve and grow our audience. It develops public awareness and support for the museum's educational mission and it helps develop a brand and vision for the future. By orchestrating and marketing special events, by engaging the public through visitor services, promoting andscheduling school and group tours, by marketing, public relations, and communityoutreach efforts, and via surveys and audience development activities, the Sectionplans, coordinates, strengthens, facilitates and evaluates the marketing, communication,and outreach campaigns and projects. Through internal, external and collaborative methods, the Section reaches and impacts audiences on a local, state and national level.

Division Description:The North Carolina Museum of History is the State's primary public history institution collecting, preserving, interpreting, and exhibiting history for the general public.
