The Department of English at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor specializing in Medieval or Early Modern literature and culture. We welcome applications from scholars working across the entire range of the medieval and early modern periods, from Old and Middle English to the late seventeenth century, and from a variety of methodologies, including work that embraces cross-cultural or global perspectives as well as trans- and circum-Atlantic writing.The appointment is expected to begin on September 1, 2025. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in areas of pre-1750 literature and culture that reflect their expertise; applicants must have demonstrated a commitment to effective teaching and mentoring and the ability to maintain an active research program.Application Materials:
