The Rutgers Institute for Nicotine and Tobacco Studies is one of the nation's leading tobacco focused research centers and its faculty have received over $50 million in extramural funding over the past two decades. The Institute's efforts are focused on their mission of reducing and ultimately eliminating tobacco-related morbidity and mortality.

Five Centers or Programs currently operate at the Institute including a Tobacco Center for Regulatory Science, the Center of Excellence for Rapid Surveillance of Tobacco, the Tobacco Dependence Program, a Tobacco Industry Marketing Program, and a Tobacco Control Law & Policy Resource Center.Posting SummaryRutgers is seeking a Marketing & Communications Coordinator for the Institute for Nicotine and Tobacco Studies (INTS), located in New Brunswick, NJ. The Marketing and Communications Coordinator at INTS is the primary person responsible for "telling the story" of the INTS to the world of internal and external stakeholders via digital and traditional communications channels. This position will work with INTS leadership and faculty to produce original content in multiple formats (e.g., social media posts, newsletters) showcasing researchers, research, events, and achievements across Rutgers campuses and entities. The person in this position must write appropriately for the channel, think analytically, and generate creative ideas on how to present strategically significant research and other content in text, photos, video, audio, and graphics that maximize visibility for the institute and foster curiosity and a desire to support its work. This position produces content that drives varied audiences to researchers, resources, and programs at the INTS. The position assists with daily operations and provides coordination and support for communications efforts of the INTS as part of an integrated communications strategy. The position exercises good judgment when handling complex and sensitive issues.

Duties include:

Participates in the redesign and continued improvement of the INTS website, including working with outside vendors as needed, content development, and regular updates.Serves as the initial point of contact for communications that come via the website.Responsible for regular communication and collaboration with Rutgers INTS faculty and researchers to gather necessary information (e.g., papers, grants, prizes, other timely information) and ensure accuracy and relevance of internal and external communication.Assists with the preparation of fact sheets, brief reports and PowerPoint slides for the Center for Rapid Surveillance of Tobacco (CRST) and other INTS efforts, as appropriate.Ensures alignment with branding in all communications including for CRST, INTS, and other efforts, as appropriate.Works with Rutgers Communication and Marketing team to coordinate additional communication efforts on behalf of INTS.Responsible for creating monthly newsletter and annual report.Position StatusFull TimeHours Per Week37.50Daily Work ShiftDayFLSAExemptGrade23SAnnual Minimum Salary64244.00Annual Mid Range Salary76976.00Annual Maximum Salary91311.00Standard Hours37.50Union DescriptionHPAE 5094Payroll DesignationPeopleSoftBenefitsRutgers offers a comprehensive benefit program to eligible employees. Bachelor's Degree in English, Journalism, Communication, Marketing or a related fieldTwo (2) years of related experience.Experience writing articles covering scientific content and creating social media campaignsMust have professional writing experience, familiarity with audio/video production, a solid knowledge of the current social media landscape (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube) and WordPress training.Demonstrates proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and programs used to create visual graphics for articles and social media such as Adobe Creative Cloud or Canva.Preferred Qualifications
