This is a work to hire or permanent full-time role for a candidate who can work in a fast paced, high volume, fashion environment while maintaining accuracy.The RTW +Denim Technical Designer should be highly motivated, meticulous with details, and driven by the technical aspects of the design process. The position requires the maintenance of established fits within the same bodies through measuring garments, logging in all information related to the garment, and growing/maintaining the block library. Capable of juggling multiple deadlines and tasks to meet deadlines. This position works within the technical design team, led by the Director of Technical Design to maintain processes and upkeep of fit logs and deadlines.Major Responsibilities:Other duties may be assigned.Proficient knowledge of POM's and how to accurately spec garments.Log/track sample maintained by fit lists.Prep and evaluate samples to ensure previous comments have been executed.Maintain the block library per style after approvals have been sent.Lead fittings with clear and accurate knowledge of history and how to execute the comments.Able to log in information quickly, clearly, and accurately to rely to vendors so they understand the issue.Understanding of fit stages and how to effect seasonal deliveries/deadlines successfully.Manage clear daily communication with all necessary cross functional teams and overseas vendors.Create/establish initial specs based on existing body blocks in order to uphold their aesthetic for fit and silhouette; including measurements, construction details and technical sketches.Competencies:To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the followingStrong understanding of garment construction and techniquesStrong understanding of patterns and how to relate this to fit and comment assessmentAbility to accurately spec garmentsStrong attention to detail and extensive knowledge with inner componentsAbility to multi-task with effective organizational skillsCollaborate with Design and corresponding teams to determine fit and priorities to meet timelinesStrong verbal and written communication skills while able to take directionHighly motivated with a positive and dependable attitude; team playerEnthusiastic and willing to learnFlexible and adaptable to a very fast-paced environment and its changesProactive with problem solving and seeks input for optimum resolutions as needed.Minimum Qualifications:Bachalors or Associates Degree in related field (Technical Design, Design, Pattern Making, Merchandising) or equivalent experience.3+ years of experience in related field (Technical Design, Pattern Making or Design)Proficient in Excel/Microsoft Office SuitePreferred Qualifications:Proficient in Adobe Illustrator/PhotoshopPrevious training/experience with industry-relevant software, such as web-based t/p systems.Basic hands-on knowledge of sewing and/or basic Gerber knowledgeBenefits package:Room for Growth/PromotionPaid vacation/holidaysMedical insurance/dental/visionTerm life insurance401 (k) Savings Plan with company match plansMerchandise discounts
