Job Description

Design & Development :

Create and develop custom corrugated packaging solutions (e.g., boxes, trays, inserts, partitions) based on client needs, product specifications, and shipping requirements.Design packaging structures that optimize protection, minimize material usage, and reduce costs.Prototype, test, and refine designs to meet structural integrity and sustainability standards.

Collaboration :

Work closely with clients, sales teams, and production teams to understand packaging requirements, branding needs, and functionality.Partner with graphic designers to ensure structural and branding elements align.Collaborate with suppliers to source appropriate corrugated materials that meet sustainability and cost criteria.

Technical Expertise :

Utilize CAD software (e.g., ArtiosCAD, AutoCAD) to create accurate, detailed 2D and 3D structural designs.Ensure designs meet production capabilities, equipment limitations, and material specifications.Keep up with industry trends, new materials, and innovations in corrugated packaging design.

Prototyping & Testing :

Develop prototypes and oversee testing of corrugated packaging for durability, product protection, and ease of assembly.Implement design improvements based on testing results, customer feedback, and cost analysis.

Sustainability :

Integrate eco-friendly and sustainable practices into packaging designs, optimizing material usage, recyclability, and reducing environmental impact.

Documentation & Communication :

Prepare technical drawings, production files, and specifications for manufacturing teams.Present design concepts and prototypes to stakeholders and customers, explaining functionality and production feasibility.

The Successful Applicant

Bachelor's degree in Packaging Design, Industrial Design, or related field.2+ years of experience in packaging design, with a focus on corrugated materials.Proficiency in CAD software such as ArtiosCAD, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD.Strong understanding of corrugated material properties and packaging manufacturing processes.Knowledge of industry standards for packaging performance and sustainability.Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Strong communication skills to work with cross-functional teams and present designs to clients.

What's on Offer

Target compensation for the Packaging Structural Designer is $100,000 - $120,000 base salary.
