Job DescriptionThis position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Senior Designer is responsible for working with YMCA leaders, volunteers, members, and subject matter experts to uncover and develop compelling print/web collateral from concept to completion. As a Senior Designer at the Y, you lead an environment by creating visual concepts that both inspire and inform.

QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent.

Minimum 3-5 years experience in graphic & web design.

Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere for video work, and in-depth knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Microsoft Office.

Innovative and creative thinker with a proven ability to create great content for Y materials.

Certified CPR/First Aid/AED and NLO within designated time of hire.

Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Essential Functions

Designs the “look” and layout of all Crossroads YMCA association marketing materials while adhering to Y-USA brand standards.

Assists branches in developing and designing branch-specific or association marketing pieces including flyers, signage and t-shirt design.

Works with branch staff to encourage and implement the use of the Y look and voice.

Continually monitors graphic integrity, consistency, and style of marketing pieces. Assists the VP of Marketing & Communications with regular internal audits and takes appropriate action to correct improper use of the YMCA logo and branding standards.

Serves as a traffic manager, overseeing the team project management system, assigning tickets and providing support to the team to ensure relevant details are accurate and that all projects are running on track to meet deadlines.

Reviews junior staff members’ work to ensure high quality.

Efficient communication and coordination with branch teams.

Manages, maintains, and designs the Association’s website.

Develops content with a focus on SEO/keywords in order to drive web traffic and lead generation (SEO-Google, Bing).

Assists in building organizational rankings through SEO activities including but not limited to localization, keyword research and onsite optimization. Identifies website content priorities based on keyword ranking opportunities.

Maintains a data-driven perspective, identifying key metrics of success while managing the organization’s ongoing digital reporting and analytics.

Assists with special events (promoting, taking pictures, etc.).

Assists with photography, video shooting and editing as necessary.
