Required Experience:
Seven or more years of related professional experience in marketing, insurance or related field (a Master’s degree may be substituted for a portion of the experience requirements as appropriate)
Preferred Experience:
Management or project leadership experience
Position Summary:
Marketing Consultant will utilize strong core marketing competencies to lead and/or assist in the development and implementation of overall business and marketing strategy and action plans. Leads and/or assists in the development and execution of strategies and plans that ensure long-term sustainable growth of the business. Plans effective development and/or execution of mid-range marketing projects of mid to high complexity. Projects or forecasts future marketing needs. Evaluates impact of marketing objectives and strategies. Conducts or leads teams on decision support analysis.
Reports to Manager/Director/AVP. This is an individual contributor role but may have direct reports based on organizational structure. May also be responsible for virtual/project teams.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Connection: Assists in the development and execution of strategies and plans that ensure long term sustainable growth of the business
Synthesizes data and intuition on all areas of the business and leverages this understanding to support identification and innovation of business building solutions
For assigned projects utilizes Customer Insights & Analytics experts and tools to understand and forecast market, competitor and customer needs and behavior, helps to define appropriate target audiences, evaluate sufficiency, and effectively drive results with data based decisions
Helps build a learning culture through coaching and participation
Branding:
Guides and builds the brand within area of responsibility, including the development and delivery of the On Your Side Experience to all stakeholders driving customer value (solutions and experience)
Ensures consistency of the ''brand experience'' for all customers (end-users and intermediaries), considering company values and legal/compliance requirements
Marketing Communications:
Partners with creative services to help develop communications plans and their implementation, including creation of the brand experience via superior Marketing Communications
Manages or assists in the development, testing and evaluation (via market metrics) of all marketing within area of responsibility
Utilizes and coaches strong personal oral and written communication skills in both internal and external presentations and communications
Marketing Capabilities:
Contributes to the development of increased Marketing Capability both within the team and across the Marketing organization
Also helps other functions understand the role of Marketing in driving the business
Takes steps to grow own knowledge to advanced levels while coaching others
Organization Management:
Strong project management capability
Guides and focuses project teams to accomplish specific goals; trains and develops self and others; manages workflow and organizational planning
Recommends project and department-specific budget needs and manages budget to goal
Skills/ Competencies:
In-depth knowledge of marketing methodologies, insurance and/or financial services products, distribution systems, and customers
Knowledge of project leadership concepts and methodologies
Possesses strong verbal and written skills needed to develop and review research studies, communicate research findings, market recommendations based on findings, develop and negotiate contracts/service agreements with internal/external contacts, manage market planning projects, and manage relationships
Ability to manage and prioritize projects
Ability to function independently or in a team environment with limited supervision
Ability to operate a personal computer and advanced business software
Ability to train, lead and coach associates in all aspects of market planning
