Gravity Well is looking for an Environment Artist (Mid to Principal) with a taste for Hard Surface modeling to join our team. Are you in love with planes, boats, tanks, guns and gadgets? Come and help craft this exciting new game world with us! We are looking for an artist with a love for stylized painterly asset creation, world building, attention to details and who is willing to embrace critique, share processes and techniques while maintaining a high level of craft quality. You will work closely with many disciplines across the team in order to help meet the needs for gameplay while balancing artistic goals.What You'll Do:
Create painterly vehicles, guns, hard surface props, textures and materials.Collaborate closely with our Art Team and Game Designers to create stunning, stylized 3D environments and bring our game worlds to life.Iterate on an idea and take an asset to a final optimized state while applying the provided feedback.Work with our team to learn different game making processes and bring creative ideas that can push the environment in new ways.Participate in playtesting and engage with team members in order to enhance the game through collaborative development.Work within a very small environment art team where collaboration, mutual aid and self critique are key.Ideally You'll Have:
3+ years of experience working in games.Shipped Games in Unreal Engine 4/5.Deep knowledge of either Maya, Blender, 3ds Max. Deep knowledge of Photoshop, Zbrush, Substance, Marmoset and other 2D/3D tools.Expertise in Hard Surface modeling.Deep understanding of PBR rules and how to break them.Deep understanding of forms, shape language, design, light and composition.Perfect understanding of Retopology, UVs and baking techniques.A passion to get out of your comfort zone, improving and learning new techniques and processes.Bonus Points:
Traditional Art knowledge and experience.Experience in Hand Painted Textures.Being a jack of all trades when it comes to Environment Art.Unreal Engine Blueprints and Shaders experience.Strong observation skills and understanding of mechanics and the world around you.Able to collaborate and adapt.Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with team members located globally.Willingness to embrace critique and growth.What You’ll Get:
The base pay for this role is:Environment Artist: $100,000 to $125,000 USD per year;Senior Environment Artist: $125,000 to $175,000 per year;Principal Environment Artist: $175,000 to $200,000 per year;(or equivalent in your local currency).
