The Communications & Outreach Director serves on LOTT’s Senior Leadership Team and through the Executive Director is responsible for the success of LOTT’s mission, as well as the management of LOTT’s communication and outreach programs and activities. This position is responsible for the planning, developing, and implementing a broad range of public information, involvement, outreach, marketing, and internal communications activities that amplify and further LOTT's mission and goals through increased visibility and community engagement.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:Collaborate closely with and advise the Senior Leadership Team and Executive Director regarding aspects of internal and external communication;Serve as media spokesperson with a clear ability to articulate information for public consumption;Represent the organization on local, regional, statewide, and national levels in select professional associations to build broader awareness of LOTT;Develop and implement strategic public communication and outreach plans and activities in support of capital projects, planning efforts, emergency response, and other LOTT activities and programs, including an annual outreach plan to enhance LOTT’s visibility in the community;Elevate the history, visibility, and public awareness of LOTT’s facilities and operations, education and outreach programs, exceptional environmental standards, dedicated staff, and public spaces;Formulate communication platforms to emphasize LOTT’s strategic plans such as climate action;Author compelling, evidence-based stories and visualization materials (video, graphic design, social media posts, community testimonials, etc.) and build effective campaigns to amplify LOTT’s mission and grow organic awareness and engagement;Oversee and maintain a standardized brand (look, feel, functionality, and usage) across all print and digital platforms;Promote LOTT’s Culture of Excellence and integrate values into internal efforts and communications;Employ an equity lens to all internal and external communications.Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or closely related field. Ten or more years of experience generating and delivering communications content, including media relations and emergency messaging, with at least three of those years at the executive level. Three or more years directly supervising staff. Knowledge of wastewater treatment, water quality, ecology, and/or related sciences preferred. Professional experience providing public communications services for government agencies, utilities, and/or environmental organizations is desirable.Any combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for the foregoing requirements.Additional Requirements:

Must possess a valid Washington State Driver’s License within 30 days from date of hire.
