The Store Design Manager is responsible for owning the design process from site assessment through project completion for retail projects within the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. You will be encouraged to contribute to the budget process, handle project timelines and deliverables, and work closely with key business partners to ensure the needs of the department are met. You will be expected to ensure that Disney’s high-quality standards and attention to details are implemented. This position will report to the Director, Store Design & Development.
What You Will Do
Be a part of the store development/remodel process, from inception to closeoutLead multiple responsibilities and assignments simultaneouslyRun the day-to-day store design activities and responsibilities from development to execution to ensure department goals and objectives are metHave a strong understanding of retail standards and design principlesRead, review, and modify construction drawings, shop drawings, specifications, and ensure compliance with design intent and legal requirementsSupervise and lead all store design deliverables/dates to ensure compliance with the project scheduleEnsure adherence to project budgets, schedules, and quality requirementsExplore and develop practices and processes to improve metrics on stated goalsSupport the project schedule by resolving design issues quickly and promptly that may arise during the project build out phaseOrganize and lead business critical meetings for the purpose of coordinating/running the design processLead multiple design concepts and store types concurrentlyBuild and develop positive relationships with a diverse group of cross functional partners and lead in a collaborative styleCommunicate timely and effectively with all stakeholders on matters and/or issues relating to the project, especially concerns that could affect the project completion, quality or financial impactsRepresent the Retail Design & Development as the subject matter expert in internal and external business meetings, provides expertise and mentorship when requiredContribute to the success of the department through ongoing development and participation in key pilot programs and initiatives
Required Qualifications & Skills
7+ years in a leadership construction or store planning role within the retail industryProficiency in reading and understanding architecture and engineering documents, vendor shop drawings and specificationsKnowledge of building codes and expertise in retail design and constructionPrevious experience leading fast paced, multiple projects with strict adherence to budget and deadlinesAbility to work and thrive in cross-functional teamsExcellent project management skills, including handling multiple tasks simultaneously and lead sophisticated, cross functional teamsStrong project management and organizational skillsInventive problem solving skills and excellent analytical skills leading to strong resultsSelf starter capable of operating with little supervisionProficiency in basic computer functions necessary to operate in a Windows environment and other technologies including Microsoft Project and AutoCad
Preferred Education
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Interiors, Architecture, Construction Project Management, or related field
