This Columbus based hybrid role is compensation grade H3. Please refer to bolded text for specific job duties.

Enterprise Media lead will report directly to the AVP of media and be responsible for supporting development of a holistic media strategy and tactical plan to effectively build the Nationwide brand against a designated core segment. This individual will partner with an agency of record, cross functionally across marketing, and with various media partners to bring the media investment strategy to life through flawless execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Media planning and execution: supports and executes integrated media plans (Enterprise/National, Diverse) to ensure the successful investment of media dollars to bring to life brand, business, and marketing strategy and in connection with marketing leadership and lines of business needs. Evaluates agency resources, technology and tools, and challenges current processes with new thinking and opportunities. Strong focus on the details of the plan, executing a best in class National and Diverse media plan while retaining strong talent and building relationships. Is a self-starter and can continue to thrive in a fast paced environment with sometimes ambiguous or even changing direction.
  • National Marketing Calendar: has a strong grasp and visualization of the annual marketing calendar, planning process, and day to day operations of the media planning and buying process. Must execute flawlessly a highly tactical media plan across multiple media dimensions including Linear, digital, social, audio, and programmatic that is in a continual state of evaluation based on market conditions, consumption trends and performance.
  • Agency management: ability to effectively utilize agency partners as an extension of the NW team to build and implement a large-scale media plan. Creates a driven team with a bias for action that hits deadlines, is proactive with insights and optimizations, and is incredibly in tune with the marketplace allowing the internal team to proactively provide updates and insights in a timely manner.
  • Analytic Thinker: Must be comfortable immersed in a high degree of data while leveraging the findings of the company's marketing mix model. The majority of media decisions will be a result of extensive analytical analysis. Builds a strong relationship and rapport with analytics partners and understands brand health and attribution level tools like Marketing Mix Modeling and Brand Health + Lift studies.


Typical Skills and Experiences Education/Certification/Licenses:

Bachelor's degree in marketing, Business or related field; MBA preferred

Experience/Skills:

10+ years of media, marketing and/or business experience in a highly driven marketing organization including external advertising or media agency. Must have proven success in a highly matrixed organization, working collaboratively across business lines.

Must have strong quantitative and analytical skills with knowledge of media marketplace and data technology. Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experience may take precedence.

You will execute on future business or marketing needs driven by quantitative data/research, competitive insights and/or consumer behaviors. Additionally, we'll count on you to ensure a strong focus on end-to-end customer experience, delivering exceptional customer experience overall.

Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
  • Leads in the development and execution of strategies and plans that ensure long term sustainable growth of the business. Synthesizes data and uses this understanding to support identification and innovation of business building solutions.
  • Leads sophisticated projects and processes within area of responsibility to deliver results with multiple target completion dates and shifting priorities.
  • Implements digital and traditional marketing tactics and media, including creative development process, planning, and execution.
  • Leads creative development and provides specific feedback on look and feel and develops strong creative briefs.
  • Monitors emerging innovative trends in content, design and marketing tactics
  • Reviews and analyzes customer insights and analytics and tools to understand and forecast market, competitor and customer needs and behavior. Helps to define appropriate target audiences, evaluate sufficiency, and effectively get results with data-based decisions.
  • Ensures programs are on strategy and on schedule.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Director/Associate Vice President/Vice President. This is an individual contributor and may manage a team based on organizational structure; may also lead virtual and project teams.

Typical Skills and Experience:

Education: Bachelor's degree in marketing, business administration or related field; graduate degree highly desirable.

License/Certification/Designation: Technical insurance designations such as CPCU, CLU, ChFC, FLMI considered a plus. Additional licensing may be required to hold this position and associates will need to acquire the required federal and/or state licenses/registrations within the designated time period. Additional licenses/registrations may be required when new products and services are implemented. If an associate fails to acquire required licenses/registrations within the time period designated by the business unit, the associate will be ineligible to continue in the position.

Experience: Typically, 10 or more years related professional experience in marketing, field sales management, insurance or related field. Master's degree may be substituted for a portion of the experience requirements as appropriate. Prior marketing development and project leadership exposure/experience preferred.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: In-depth knowledge of marketing methodologies, insurance and/or financial services products including regulatory environment, distribution systems, and customers preferred. Knowledge of product distribution methods. Ability to develop and review research studies, communicate research findings, market recommendations based on findings, develop and negotiate contracts/service agreements with internal/external contacts, and lead multiple projects planning projects. Ability to function independently or in a team environment. Demonstrates core marketing proficiencies, including strategy development, utilization of insights and analytics, building brand equity and developing effective marketing communications. Command of and ability to understand and deliver customer focus, operating capabilities, and strategic capabilities.
