The Breast Cancer Superheroes is a nonprofit public service arts project based in Minnesota. The goal of the project is to celebrate and inspire the heroic nature of individuals affected by breast cancer through the creation of large scale portraits of selected breast cancer survivors depicted as their superhero of choice, exhibits of the paintings in clinics, hospitals and other community sites, and community interactives that extend the experience to others.

Do not pass up this chance, apply quickly if your experience and skills match what is in the following description.This is a working Advisory Board position.It is unpaid unless funded via grants or corporate sponsorships to be secured by the activities of board members and volunteers.This would be a great position for a young executive or a retiring executive looking to serve a fantastic nonprofit mission combining healing arts and women's health.Most of the work can be remote but at times there will be onsite activities that the Communications/PR lead will want to attend.COMMUNICATIONS/PR LEAD ROLE: Direct and execute all Communications/PR activities of the Breast Cancer Superhero portrait project under the guidance of the Executive Director and founder.Recruit and supervise additional Communications/PR volunteer committee members as needed.Maintain project website, Facebook page, and Instagram accounts.Create posts, announcements, and updates on project activities.Write and send PSAs to media outlets for newsworthy project activities such as exhibit openings, unveilings, new artists, and community partners.Produce any new exhibit materials required for new portraits or exhibits at new sites or with new partners (portrait panels, artist's statements, introduction panels, acknowledgment panels, etc.).Obtain graphic design or printing services for production of project and exhibit related materials as needed.Support events, interactives, and research/evaluation teams with development of their materials, through writing, design, and/or production.Manage key messaging and ensure mission of project is fulfilled by all project communications.Other duties as needed or assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:

High degree of competence in written and oral communication, excellent attention to detail.Communications and PR experience, ability to manage complex sets of tasks and keep things on schedule.Experience managing websites and other social media.Understanding of local media outlets, relationships with pertinent radio, TV and print.Understanding of community calendars and timelines for posting events.Ability to form and develop relationships with individuals from a variety of backgrounds.Supervision and organizational leadership.Passion for healing arts and public service.Sensitivity to challenges that individuals undergoing breast cancer may experience.Respect for artists, community partners, funders, team members and most of all, subjects.TO APPLY: please follow directions on this website: breastcancersuperheroes.com
