Join our team as a Social Media Intern and dive into the dynamic world of marketing Washington, DC as a top destination across social platforms. Working closely with our Social Media Manager, you'll be at the forefront of crafting engaging content, sourcing UGC and fostering meaningful audience connections. The ideal candidate is someone with a passion for storytelling and a keen understanding of the latest social media trends. As a Social Media Intern, you will have the chance to contribute innovative ideas, collaborate on content development.

Your Essential Duties and Responsibilities

(include the following, but are not limited to):Assist in the day-to-day management of Washington, DC's leisure-focused social media channels, ensuring content is timely, relevant and aligns with the DDC voice and style.Support the development and maintenance of a comprehensive content calendar to ensure a consistent and strategic posting schedule.Collaborate with the Social Media Manager to craft compelling and on-brand captions for posts on various social media platforms.Actively engage with the audience by responding to comments, messages and mentions, fostering a sense of community and connection.Stay informed about industry trends, social media best practices and emerging platforms to contribute innovative ideas to the content strategy.Research to identify potential collaboration opportunities and partnerships with other brands, aligning with the overall marketing goals for Washington, DCWhat You Bring: Experience, Competencies & Education

You must be currently enrolled in college; completed at least sophomore year in good standingSocial Media, Communications, Hospitality and Tourism, Marketing or relevant coursework requiredExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailStrong relationship-building and communication skills (both written and verbal)Competency using project management tools and Adobe Creative CloudDestination marketing or hospitality industry experience, a plusEagerness to learn from a team of dynamic, engaged professionals working to promote Washington, DC and its vital hospitality and travel and tourism economyInternship Specifics:

Duration

Spring (January 13 - May 15).You must be available for in-office work 20-28 hours per week.Hours worked must be within the parameters of Monday-Thursday, 8:30am-5pm EST to coincide with the operational hours of the office.

Work Environment:

This Intern will follow Destination DC's policies for staff and may work hybrid, coming into the office at a minimum of two days a week and as determined by supervisor. Intern may work from the office on other days, too. Intern must have reliable internet to work remotely.
