VTG is seeking a Proposals Technical Writer located in Virginia Beach, VA.
What will you do?
The Proposals Technical Writer writes and edits complex material for customer reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, working primarily for Federal customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:Write, review and edit materials for customer proposals, primarily for the US Government DOD, including:
Technical, management and past performance proposalsWhite papersRequirements and other technical documentationUpcoming contract proposals and bids including IDIQ type contracts
Work product will focus on compliance, messaging, and completenessWork closely with proposal writers and volume managers on grammar and formattingAdhere to applicable business development processes and procedures, including document archiving and management, in the execution of the proposal processAssist in establishing and implementing publishing standards complianceRetrieve and analyze project and program historical information from various sources to support statement of work (SOW), work breakdown structure (WBS), and estimate developmentPrepare various supporting analyses for projects and programs to measure effectiveness; track and escalate action items, monitor project delivery and client satisfaction, and communicate with all appropriate levels within the organizationSupport program and project management/project controls functions; assist with activities such as planning requirements, analysis and design, technical reviews, integration, implementation, operations turnover, and project closingInterpret statements of work (SOW), work breakdown structure (WBS), and estimate development

Interpersonal skills to coordinate with various levels of management, technical staff, and clients and to lead groups with or without direct line authority; influencing skillsAbility to work as a contributing member of a team and in a team environment and collaborate across functionsProven program and project experience interpreting statements of work (SOW), work breakdown structure (WBS), and estimate developmentMust possess superb organization skills, detail orientation, and ability to work in a fast-paced work environmentHigh level analytical and creative problem-solving skills to define problems, collect data, establish facts, assimilate information, and draw conclusionsAbility to perform sophisticated quantitative analyses that translate into actionable insightsSuccess using statistical techniques to model complex relationships among business variablesSuperior research and problem-solving skills founded on analytical rigor, strategic thinking, and strong business judgmentAbility to analyze large databases, develop models to inform business decisions, and communicate methodology and insights to non-technical audiencesAbility to communicate effectively in writing and verballyAbility to multi-task and handle multiple priorities simultaneouslyAdept at planning and organizing and identifying priorities and changing them when appropriateAbility to obtain and maintain the required security clearanceEducation/Experience:Bachelor's Degree in related field, plus six (6) years' experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experienceMathematical Skills:Intermediate – high: ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of algebra, plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry; calculate formulae, apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situationsComputer Skills:To perform this job successfully, an individual should have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and finance and accounting software such as CostPoint. Position requires knowledge of enterprise resources planning systems and techniques; working knowledge of network and operating systems, server technologies and programs such as Microsoft Visual Studio, Earned Value Management, Microsoft SQL, and Visual Basic. Programming knowledge specific to company/department assets is preferredCertificates, Licenses, Registrations:Valid driver's licenseOther:Position may require occasional travel, less than 10%
