Job descriptionGraphic Designer/ Illustrator LeadWyandotte Technologies, a leading provider of professional services and solutions to the Department of Energy, has a long-term contract opportunity for a Graphic Designer at Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) for its Public Affairs Office in Lakewood, Colorado. The ideal candidate will bring creative ideas forward and inspire new concepts toward client projects. The primary objective is to provide creative support to WAPA. In the course of normal duties, the employee will conceptualize, provide direction, develop, design, layout, prepare and produce a wide variety of illustrative and multimedia content to support branding and communication efforts.Responsibilities:

Assist customers in identifying and defining requirements for graphics art services to ensure communications needs are met in an efficient, effective, and cost-effective way.Conceptualize and develop WAPA’s appearance and standard design elements for print and electronic products.Ensure graphics and branding elements are of professional quality, aligned with industry trends and follow current industry best practices in terms of functionality and effectiveness in creating a standard, recognizable brand for an organization.Responsible for conceptualizing, designing, drafting, producing, and printing about twenty (20) printed and electronic major agency publications, entirely custom designed, between 12-200 pages in length and used by a wide range of audiences, external and internal, to understand WAPA’s mission and activities.Create graphical and other visual products that range from displaying data in an artistic, creative, appealing, and functionally useful way to conceptualizing, drafting, finalizing, and printing major agency publications of professional grade and worthy of submission for various industry and government awards.Products can be printed, published online, or both, which necessitates flexibility in document creation and ability to shift mediums to make all versions useful and specialized to specific audiences and mediums.Assist Public Affairs staff in taking, editing, and finalizing photos, multimedia content such as audio recordings in various formats that can be supported by web and standard agency software.Proficient at capturing group photos, individual photos, photos of products and scenes, action photos, etc., and have knowledge of lighting and basic photography principles.High-level skills and knowledge with photo and graphics software products and be able to use the software to improve photos using tools such as cropping, color repair, restoration, fixing photographer mistakes, adding graphics, adding text, editing, trimming, splicing, among other editing tools.Support WAPA’s external and internal web and team sites by providing branded graphical and illustrative elements; optimizing photos and other graphics for web display; and serving as a technical resource for appropriate web display and illustrative elements.Must have a basic mastery of the English language, including proper use of punctuation, grammar, and spelling in order to compile professional-level reports of monthly activities. These skills will also be used for proofreading to assure materials submitted to the client are of the highest possible quality.Education Requirements:

College degree in Fine Arts preferred or an equivalent of education plus experience.Training/experience in photography/video and applicable editing software.Job Requirements:

Expert level knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite software for print and web design including Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Acrobat Pro.Proficient using Microsoft Office products including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel to prepare publications and artwork for the various types of output formats, such as offset printing, in-house reproduction, and the internet. Contractors must have working knowledge of SharePoint.Design and create products using state-of-the-art graphics design knowledge on both Macintosh and Windows platforms.Must be a U.S. Citizen.No relocation.Job Type: Full-timeSalary: Up to $43.64 per hourBenefits:
