The position serves as an on-page optimization strategist that aims to boost organic web rankings across the main site and paid and organic microsites. The search engine optimization specialist will work alongside the integrated marketing director, the web team, and agency partners to build content strategy and ensure strong brand relevance in organic and paid rankings.Essential Job Functions and Performance IndicatorsThe intent of this job description is to provide a representation of the types of duties and level of responsibility that will be required of positions given this title. Employees may be directed to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.Job Responsibilities and ExecutionCreates and executes comprehensive SEO strategies to improve search engine rankings, drive organic and paid traffic, and increase visibility for key academic programs and initiativesConducts thorough keyword research to identify high-impact search terms and phrases relevant to higher education and the University's offeringsCollaborates with the integrated marketing director and agency partners to develop and write SEO-friendly content, including program page content, blog posts, landing pages, and other web content that aligns with the University's goals; develops strategies to utilize contentDevelops and implements strategies for acquiring high-quality backlinks to boost domain authority and search engine rankingsMonitors, analyzes, and reports on SEO performance using tools, such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Moz, and other SEO platforms; provides actionable insights and recommendations based on dataKeeps up with the latest SEO trends, algorithm updates, and best practices to ensure strategies remain effective and competitiveService ExcellenceSupports the mission of the University and serves as an ambassador of the Q2 culture of service excellenceModels, supports, and holds others accountable to the University's valuesCommunication, Teamwork, and CollaborationCollaborates with internal and external stakeholders to develop and manage search strategyWorks alongside the web team to optimize page content, meta tags, headings, and internal linking structures to enhance search engine visibility and user experience; remains compliant with accessibility standards and current technical SEO strategiesJob may require other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications - An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
