Our client is a well-established young contemporary importer searching for a Head of Design and Product Development for immediate hire. Having young contemporary sportswear and knitwear experience is a plus. This role involves leading the design team with design concepts, product assortments, and overseeing the product full lifecycle.Responsibilities
Manage the design and development process for young contemporary and knitwear.Develop time and action calendars for programs for each account.Work with the design team on fabric selection and construction, ensuring the quality integrity of design.Manage placement strategy and follow-up by recommending product placement.Lead product development and design projecting future fabrications.Perform trend analysis research to ensure product lines remain competitive and innovative.Work with the costing team to ensure it meets or exceeds the budget.Daily communication with overseas suppliers on all production details and costing.Manage product integrity and order specifications compliance; approve lab dips and the general flow of the process.Plan and execute a strategic sourcing plan to identify strategic partners.Knowledge of fabrications - Cut Sewn Knits.Qualifications
10 plus years of experience in apparel design and development.Experience with Kohl’s.Knowledge and understanding of fabrics and wash.
