Position Summary:

Pima Community College is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented freelance Special Project Manager to oversee the production of sports media guides for our athletic teams. This role is integral to promoting the achievements of our student-athletes and enhancing the visibility of our athletic programs. The Special Project Manager will collaborate closely with coaches, athletes, and the athletics department to ensure the timely and professional delivery of comprehensive, engaging, and accurate media guides for various sports teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:Media Guide Production:Manage the creation, design, and production of sports media guides for all athletic teams, ensuring content is engaging, accurate, and visually appealing

Content Development & Coordination:Collaborate with coaches, student-athletes, and the athletics department to gather content, including team rosters, player bios, statistics, and season highlights

Graphic Design & Layout:Work with graphic designers and other creative professionals to ensure each media guide aligns with college branding standards and is visually engaging

Project Management:Plan, coordinate, and manage the entire media guide production process from concept to completion, ensuring all deadlines are met, especially for major athleticevents and seasons

Quality Control:Proofread and edit all content for accuracy, ensuring information such as stats, records, and team details are current and correctly represented

Vendor and Print Management:Collaborate with external printers and vendors to manage the production and distribution of printed guides, ensuring high-quality output and cost-efficiency

Budgeting :Assist in developing and managing the media guide budget, ensuring the project stays within financial limits without compromising quality

Digital Versions:Oversee the creation of digital versions of the media guides to be published on the college's athletics website and other digital platforms

Reporting & Feedback:Provide regular project updates to the Athletics Director and gather feedback from key stakeholders to improve future media guide production

Job Requirements:

High school diploma or GEDAssociates Degree in either: Communications, Sports Management, Marketing, or a related field2 to 3 years of experience in project management in sports mediaThe ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Strong writing, editing, and communication skillsFamiliarity with sports terminology, statistics, and media guide productionAbility to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including coaches, athletes, and external vendorsStrong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyA passion for sports and promoting student-athlete achievements
