Overview:
Staff Writer (NPAO):Bowhead is seeking a Staff Writer for an upcoming effort located at the Navy Yard in Washington, DC. The Staff Writer will provide execution support for all enterprise-wide internal and external communications; this may include marketing requirements and legislative engagements; and other efforts as required.Responsibilities:Design and implement innovative communications strategies for organizational initiatives and programs.Write and edit news copy and long-form writing (Feature articles, stories, et cetera) according to the Navy and Associated Press Style Book.Strong demonstration of communication skills, both written and oral, including demonstrated ability to produce concise and properly editedAbility to synthesize complex ideas and initiatives into easily understood communications for a variety of audiences.Interact with a variety of audiences and convey information to a variety of audiences with varying levels of understanding of acquisition programs and priorities.Ability to think strategically, to identify needs and requirements, and to develop recommendations and solutions.Manage small and large-scale projects that contribute to a larger strategic communications plan.Manage competing priorities under strict deadlines while maintaining a high level of attention to detail; ability to work effectively with senior leaders in a high profile and demanding office.Bowhead seeks to network with qualified individuals relative to a potential opportunity, which is contingent upon award and not currently funded. No solicitations or third-party applications will be accepted.Qualifications:Bachelor of Arts/Science degree in English or Communications.Five years of civilian or military experience writing as depicted in applicants portfolio/writing samples.Well versed in using the AP Style guideStrong demonstration of interpersonal skills.Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.Target salary is $110,000/year to $118,000/year commensurate with experiencePhysical Demands:Must be able to lift up to 15 poundsMust be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of timeMust be able to twist, bend and squat periodicallySECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level.
