This position works within the Area in a collaborative team environment across Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, and Delaware. The goal of this position is to elevate the HDR brand within the communities that we serve through focused media, awards, staff recognitions, and university activities. This position requires a passionate and motivated professional to help us to grow our brand across our collective Business Groups. The Area Communications Lead will collaborate with a diverse team of engineers, scientists, planners, and other marketing and communications professionals to plan and develop content for various mediums and communication channels to position our Area for success. Strong organizational aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work under deadlines with diplomacy are essential.
Primary Responsibilities
The primary duties of the Area Communications Lead will include working collaboratively with the Area Manager, Business Group Managers, Business Development Leaders, Area Marketing Services Team and Project Managers/key technical staff to ensure effective communication strategies, data management, and data compliance across the PA/OH/WV/DE Area.
In the role of Area Communications Lead, we'll count on you to:
•Develop, implement, manage, and oversee the overall Communications Plan for the PA/OH/WV/DE Area. Collaborate with our Corporate Communications team to develop communications strategies that embrace the HDR brand and grow brand awareness, in the following areas:
oExternal Communication
§In collaboration with our corporate communications team, enhance our external communications including our social media presence by developing content to elevate our expertise, our people, and our project work on the HDR website, social media and other publication channels.
§Research emerging industry trends and identify opportunities to stay at the forefront of current developments that will positively impact our operations.
§Work with our local leadership and Subject Matter Experts to develop and draft feature article content, thought leadership articles, white papers, and social media posts.
§Create content for LinkedIn account and help with publication and university engagement where required.
oInternal Communications - Enhance our internal communications by developing content to elevate our expertise, our people, and our project work across the Area via the HDR intranet, social media, and other publication channels.Develop and manage the following:
§Area-wide communication
§Area-wide SharePoint site
§New hire notifications, promotions, internal project announcements, etc.
•As necessary, lead with development of publication materials, collateral, brochures, presentations, and other brand campaign materials.
•Work with our Area leaders to develop award submissions to recognize staff, projects and programs.
•Collaborate with Business Group Managers, Business Development Leaders and National Market Sector Leaders to ensure proper strategies for primary organizations and conferences. This includes discussing sponsorships, abstracts, presentation materials, and other activities for conference and organization events that are vetted through the Business Groups and selected for attendance.
•Develop a University Engagement Plan that includes focused engagement opportunities including speaking events, publications, and career fairs.
•Support projects in terms of communication plans, public outreach strategies, and overall communication strategy for the Business Groups within the Area.
•Perform other duties as needed or requested.
These activities require self-direction and the ability for forward thinking. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills along with the ability to work under deadlines is a must.The successful candidate will have experience working in a fast-paced environment, collaborating on documents with a diverse team of individuals in multiple locations.
Preferred Qualifications
•Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Fine Arts, Business, Communications, English or Journalism.
•Experience in the AEC industry, primarily with transportation-related clients.
•Proficiency in MS Office required (including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
•Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign, preferred.
•Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills including grammar, punctuation, spelling, and proofreading.
•Ability to work cooperatively with diverse teams, including Area leadership, marketing staff, technical managers, and project staff in the Area.
•Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
•Quick self-starter, team orientated and able to work with different personalities and professional styles.
•Service and client-oriented personality, self-motivated, confident, and energetic.
•Ability and willingness to be a positive, contributing, and adaptable member of the team at all times.
