Job Summary:
Reporting to the Sr. Director of Lore and Creative Strategy, the Transmedia West Team is seeking a Lead Artist to support our growing needs. Through concept art, storyboarding, and other artistic duties, you will be immersed in the shaping of Sonic lore, canon, characters, and universes, helping to bring consistency, connectivity, and creativity to all things Sonic across various forms of media including games, animation, comics, marketing creative, and more.
This role will interface closely with teams around the world. We strive to foster a supportive, thoughtful, innovative, flexible, collaborative, and most importantly, respectful work environment, and are looking for team members that share these same values.Duties and Responsibilities:Creates custom art for lore needs.Creates unique art for social and marketing use.Draws and gives feedback on storyboards for scripts spanning all types of visual media, including animation, game trailers, and live action videos.Assists with artistic direction for marketing assets and executions as needed.Helps with production of animation as needed.Helps with art-focused feedback to our game development teams.Polishes visual design of presentations and other business assets.Ensures incorporation of inclusive and diverse approaches to our creative processes, while constantly striving to evolve and improve those processes.Supports other departments, including game dev, marketing, licensing, and animation, through proactive communication, alignment, and on-time delivery of materials.Able to take on other duties as required, including supporting non-Sonic IPs in a similar capacity.Other duties as assigned.Working in-office is an essential function of this position. This requirement of face-to-face interaction is in place to ensure effective supervision, collaboration, and teamwork. In-office attendance is required for the following reasons:
For effective supervision of employees and our work product, which includes ensuring all employees have necessary oversight of their work and access to supervisory assistance, which includes meetings to review work product, deadlines, and status.To foster communication and collaboration among team members, which includes the following: allowing for spontaneous brainstorming sessions and exchanges of ideas, quick access to team members to enable collaborative problem-solving, and stronger cohesion among co-workers and within teams.To enhance the sharing of information necessary to effective job performance and product creation.To enhance understanding of our stakeholders' work and business needs, facilitate a more seamless and organic workflow, and ultimately increase efficiency and successful outcomes.
Qualifications
Qualifications and Skills:
Expert digital 2D artistic skills.Experience in storyboarding is essential.Ability to take art from concept all the way through completion.Expert in digital art tools and workflows.Well-versed in all things Sonic (characters, games, animations, comics, movies, etc.).Experience creating art for many different types of media, including marketing.Experience leading a team of creatives.Comfortable communicating/presenting artistic direction to a wide range of audiences and experience levels.Skilled collaborator and seeker of diverse opinions.Preferred Skills:Experience in the game industry.Knowledgeable in animation production, tools, and processes.3D art experience.
