Come join our growing team today! HII-Mission Technologies Enterprise Transformation Branch is currently seeking a Strategic Communications Specialist to support a DoD customer. Our highly engaged customer is looking for additional support to effectively communicate targeted messages, goals, and values to key audiences associated with a national defense strategy and implementation plan. A successful candidate will possess excellent communication and writing skills and have a passion for storytelling, cultivating relationships, and mission success.
This position will work with the existing Strategic Communications Team, but must feel confident performing tasks independently (e.g., drafting press releases, curating talking points, reviewing/editing collateral, researching policy/topics). The right candidate will embrace working in the areas of strategic communications, digital media strategy, and congressional affairs. Work will be performed using a hybrid schedule of telework (Monday and Friday) and on-site at the customer location in Crystal City, VA, three days each week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday)!
What you will do
Provide communication, outreach, and stakeholder support, including developing responses to both external and internal taskersPrepare a variety of written materials (e.g., reports, read ahead packages) in response to inquiries from Senior Leaders and in support of Leadership engagements and meetingsWrite and edit talking points and materials to prepare Leadership for meetings, speaking engagements, presentations, and eventsDraft press releases, articles, and blog posts on behalf of Leadership for educational purposesPrioritize assignments and duties, while managing multiple priorities simultaneouslyAnalyze issues and risks, identify alternative solutions, and provide recommendations to Senior Strategic Communications Staff and LeadershipReview content for clarity, grammar, spelling, punctuation, content, and styleGive feedback and advice to writers and technical SMEsAdditional duties as assigned or requiredWhat we are looking for
3 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 1 year relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 7 years relevant experienceFamiliarity of Strategic Communications best practicesAptitude to quickly learn new skills and abilities on-the-jobComfort with serving in a client-facing role and presenting on camera or in-personAbility to synthesize critical aspects of various domain knowledgeDemonstrated experience communicating technical and policy-heavy language in a manner that is easily digestible by unfamiliar audiencesExperience with gathering and preparing for DoD and industry engagements and meetingsClearance: Must possess and maintain a Secret clearanceBonus points for...
