Assistant Professor of English(Creative Writing)
SVSUinvites applicants for a tenure-track position to begin July 1, 2025.By the time of appointment, applicants musthave acquired their terminal degree: a PhD with a focus on Creative Non-Fictionis preferred; an MFA with significant publications and teaching experience willbe considered.The successful candidatewill demonstrate interest and experience in teaching creative writing coursesand introductory and sophomore-level composition, as well as an ability to workwith diverse student populations. Candidates are expected to have significantpublications in creative non-fiction, an active creative/scholarly agenda, andsecondary expertise in another area of creative writing, such as dramaticwriting (traditional theater, film, or new media), poetry, or fiction.Teaching responsibilities are primarily in-person,on-campus (24 credit hours/year), with limited online teaching possible.Other responsibilities include academicservice, student advising, and supporting the University's literary andcultural environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Earned PhD or MFA from an accredited institution in English (Creative Writing/emphasis in Creative Non-Fiction)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Relevant teaching experience at the university level
  • Experience in dramatic writing
  • Record of scholarly and creative work
